Effect of Capsular Tension Ring on Refractive and Morphological Outcomes in Pseudoexfoliative Eyes.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect on anterior chamber depth (ACD) and postoperative refractive prediction error (PE) of capsular tension ring (CTR) implantation during phacoemulsification in pseudoexfoliative (PEX) eyes.

Methods: Prospective case-control study of eyes submitted to uneventful cataract surgery, divided into three study groups: Group 1 - controls; Group 2 - PEX eyes without CTR implantation; Group 3 - PEX eyes with CTR implantation. Biometric data including ACD were measured preoperatively and 1-month postoperatively, using swept-source anterior segment optical coherence tomography (ANTERION, Heidelberg Engineering), and endothelial cell density (ECD) with specular microscopy.

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is an autoimmune demyelinating disorder that occurs in approximately 20% of cases in a postinfectious or postvaccination context. To date, few cases of MOGAD have been reported following SARS-CoV-2 immunization. Here, we report the case of a 28-year-old female presenting with isolated unilateral optic neuritis, achieving complete recovery after corticosteroid treatment.

More Than Meets the Eye: A Case of Endogenous Panophthalmitis.

Panophthalmitis is a severe condition involving not only the eye but also the surrounding orbital soft tissues. An endogenous source of panophthalmitis is rare and requires a thorough investigation to identify the infection's origin, which can be challenging. We present a rare case of a 65-year-old male patient with no systemic symptoms who presented to the emergency room with left-eye panophthalmitis, ultimately revealing occult colorectal cancer.

Methods: For this sub-study of the SCOPE project participants reporting no falls at baseline, and survey data on falls at the 12-month and 24-month follow-up were included.

Quality of Life and Kidney Function in Older Adults: Prospective Data of the SCOPE Study.

A longitudinal alteration in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) over a two-year period and its association with early-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression was investigated among 1748 older adults (>75 years). HRQoL was measured by the Euro-Quality of Life Visual Analog Scale (EQ-VAS) at baseline and at one and two years after recruitment.
