- The study aimed to assess the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminth infections in calves and explore control measures on dairy farms in Alegre, Espírito Santo.
- A total of 222 calves, aged between one to 18 months, were examined across 12 farms, revealing high prevalence rates of various parasites, particularly from the Strongyloidea group.
- Despite existing parasite control programs, the study identified errors in practices, such as improper dosing of medications and failure to use composted manure, which could lead to resistance in parasites over time.
