Transverse Anterior Approach to the Elbow for Pediatric Displaced Lateral Humeral Condyle Fractures.

Background: The anterior approach to the elbow for pediatric lateral condyle fractures (LCF) would provide a better visualization of the articular fracture resulting in better functional results, less complications and a more cosmetically-appealing scar than usually seen with the lateral approach.

Methods: Retrospective study of children undergoing an open reduction and internal fixation of a displaced LCF via an anterior approach with a transverse incision. Bilateral elbow range of motion (ROM), upper limb alignment and complications were registered.

Monolateral external fixation for the progressive correction of neurological spastic knee flexion contracture in children.

Unlabelled: The purpose of this study was to report the results of the surgical treatment of spastic knee flexion contracture using tenotomy and progressive correction by external fixator-distractor devices. The study design involved a prospective observational study of 16 knees in nine patients with spastic flexion contracture greater than 30 degrees . Treatment was indicated for both ambulatory and nonambulatory patients; and, in the latter group when sitting or personal hygiene was compromised.

MRI findings in Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen syndrome, a rare spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia.

We present the case of an 8-year-old female patient with bone dysplasia as part of Dyggve-Melchior-Clausen syndrome (DMCS). MRI was used to evaluate the case. In the spine, odontoid apophysis aplasia was found with no ossification nucleus, vertebrae with central hump, disk protrusions, hypertrophy of the posterior common vertebral ligament, and hidden spina bifida at the S4 level.
