This study evaluates the impact of using a Clinical Decision Support System software in the form of a computer-guided consultation (CGC) when conducting Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) reviews in primary care. 5221 patients on the COPD register underwent CGC review with 21.1% found not to have COPD.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura is a hematologic disease with a high mortality rate that affects multiple organ systems. It is caused by a deficiency of a metalloprotease known as the ADAMTS-13 enzyme. Patients can present with fever, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, kidney injury, and neurological symptoms.

Background: Recent investigations of recovery from alcohol use disorder (AUD) have distinguished subgroups of high and low functioning recovery in data from randomized controlled trials of behavioral treatments for AUD. Analyses considered various indicators of alcohol use, life satisfaction, and psychosocial functioning, and identified four recovery profiles from AUD three years following treatment.

Objectives: The present study integrates these profiles into a two-part machine learning framework, using recursive partitioning and random forests to distinguish a) clinical cut-points across 28 end-of-treatment biopsychosocial measurements that are predictive of high or low functioning recovery three years after treatment; and b) a rank-ordered list of the most salient variables for predicting individual membership in the high-functioning recovery sub-groups.

Objective: Due to little knowledge regarding the contextual factors related to cannabis use, we aimed to provide descriptive statistics regarding contextual factors related to use and examine the predictive ability of contextual factors.

Method: We included college student participants ( = 5,700; male = 2,893, female = 3,702, other gender identity = 48, missing = 57) from three multi-site studies in our analyses. We examined the means and standard deviations of contextual factors related to cannabis use (social context/setting, form of cannabis, route of administration, source of purchase, and proxies of use).

We conducted a scoping review to map practices adopted by the pesticide industry to influence science and policymaking and to assess the breadth and focus of the associated literature.

The origins and prehistory of domestic sheep () are incompletely understood; to address this, we generated data from 118 ancient genomes spanning 12,000 years sampled from across Eurasia. Genomes from Central Türkiye ~8000 BCE are genetically proximal to the domestic origins of sheep but do not fully explain the ancestry of later populations, suggesting a mosaic of wild ancestries. Genomic signatures indicate selection by ancient herders for pigmentation patterns, hornedness, and growth rate.

This paper examines the potential of poetry as a resource within mental health nurse pre-registration education. There has long been a debate as to whether the art or the science of nursing should be foregrounded within pre-registration education, especially in the UK within recent years as the latest Nursing and Midwifery Council's standards of pre-registration education appear to have shifted the focus towards the acquisition of skills, giving less consideration to the holistic transformatory process of education. The paper uses the conceptualisation of education by Beista, who proposes that education can be considered in relation to the three domains of qualification, socialisation and subjectification.

Pan-KRAS inhibitors BI-2493 and BI-2865 display potent anti-tumor activity in tumors with KRAS wild-type allele amplification.

KRASG12C selective inhibitors, such as sotorasib and adagrasib, have raised hopes of targeting other KRAS mutant alleles in cancer patients. We report that KRAS wild-type amplified tumor models are sensitive to treatment with the small molecule KRAS inhibitors BI-2493 and BI-2865. These pan-KRAS inhibitors directly target the "OFF" state of KRAS and result in potent anti-tumor activity in pre-clinical models of cancers driven by KRAS mutant proteins.
