Patients in the NCDB who underwent R0 resection were placed into two cohorts - those who underwent adjuvant RT and those who did not. 388 patients were identified with 51 receiving RT.

Therefore, to build a patient-relevant in vivo model of human glioblastoma, we expressed common oncogenic variants including activated human EGFR and PI3KCA under the control of the radial glial-specific promoter in syngeneic loss-of-function mutant zebrafish. Robust tumor formation was observed prior to 45 days of life, and tumors had a gene expression signature similar to human glioblastoma of the mesenchymal subtype, with a strong inflammatory component.

Preferred practice pattern guidelines are proposed for ocular graft-versus-host disease (oGHVD) detection.

Methods: The Epic electronic medical record database at UTMB was screened using International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10), codes for bone marrow transplants, stem cell transplants, and complications of bone marrow transplants and stem cell transplants.

Black sexual minority men who have sex with men (MSM) in the United States are at disparate risk for contracting HIV infection, but pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use is suboptimal. Social network methods were used to recruit a community sample of racial minority MSM and transgender women (TGW) in two Midwestern US cities. 250 PrEP-eligible (HIV-negative) participants completed measures assessing current and intended PrEP use; demographic characteristics; PrEP knowledge, attitudes, norms, stigma, and self-efficacy; and structural barriers to PrEP.

Here, we track cell death in the adult planarian Schmidtea mediterranea and find that, following light-induced cell death, pigment cell corpses transit to the gut and are excreted from the animal.

Effective methods are required to detect the wide range of possible pesticides that enter estuaries from the surrounding catchment. Here, we investigate the occurrence of pesticides in the Richmond River estuary, Australia, and compare the effectiveness of using oysters and Chemcatcher® passive sampling devices against composite water samples.

Background: Perinatal depression affects >400,000 mother-child dyads in the United States every year and is associated with numerous adverse maternal and child developmental outcomes. Previous research implicates the dysregulation of oxytocin and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis functioning in mothers and children as potential mechanisms mediating or moderating the transmission of risk associated with maternal depression.

In FXLEARN, the effects of metabotropic glutamate receptor type 5 (mGluR5) negative allosteric modulator (NAM) AFQ056 on language learning were evaluated in 3- to 6-year-old children with FXS, expected to have more learning plasticity than adults, for whom prior trials of mGluR5 NAMs have failed.METHODSAfter a 4-month single-blind placebo lead-in, participants were randomized 1:1 to AFQ056 or placebo, with 2 months of dose optimization to the maximum tolerated dose, then 6 months of treatment during which a language-learning intervention was implemented for both groups.

Environmental carcinogens disproportionally mutate genes implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders.

Introduction: mutations contribute to a large proportion of sporadic psychiatric and developmental disorders, yet the potential role of environmental carcinogens as drivers of causal mutations in neurodevelopmental disorders is poorly studied.

Methods: To explore environmental mutation vulnerability of disease-associated gene sets, we analyzed publicly available whole genome sequencing datasets of mutations in human induced pluripotent stem cell clonal lines exposed to 12 classes of environmental carcinogens, and human lung cancers from individuals living in highly polluted regions. We compared observed rates of exposure-induced mutations in disease-related gene sets with the expected rates of mutations based on control genes randomly sampled from the genome using exact binomial tests.

Unlabelled: This research aimed to assess how the partial removal of carbon dioxide affects fermentations to provide a better understanding of how the manipulation of carbon dioxide concentration can be used to optimize industrial fermentations. To achieve this, fermentation kinetics, fermentation metabolic products, and yeast stress indicators were analyzed throughout ongoing brewing fermentations conducted under partial vacuum with atmospheric pressure controls. The partial vacuum reduced the solubility of carbon dioxide in the media and decreased the time necessary to reach carbon dioxide saturation.

Sex-specific neurobehavioral and prefrontal cortex gene expression alterations following developmental acetaminophen exposure in mice.

Acetaminophen (N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (APAP), also known as paracetamol) is one of the most common medications used by the general population, including pregnant people. Although many human observational and animal model studies have shown associations between prenatal and early postnatal APAP exposure and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, and altered neurodevelopment, the existing literature is limited. In particular, no mouse studies of prenatal APAP exposure have investigated offspring attention deficits in behavioral tasks specifically designed to measure attention, and no prior rodent studies have utilized 'omics' technologies, such as transcriptomics, for an untargeted exploration of potential mechanisms.
