Methods: An umbrella review of English language systematic reviews was undertaken using PubMed and Embase (OVID) covering the period 2000-2023 (PROSPERO CRD42023434865). The estimate and its corresponding 95% confidence interval were reported when available from each systematic review.

Purpose: To report a case of endogenous Lomentospora prolificans endophthalmitis treated with the novel antifungal agent Olorofim.

Case Report: A 57-year-old man developed disseminated Lomentospora prolificans with right endophthalmitis on the background of immunosuppression following lung transplantation for interstitial lung disease. He was treated with early vitrectomy, intravitreal voriconazole, and systemic Olorofim, voriconazole and terbinafine.

Background: In the UK, additional COVID-19 vaccine booster doses and treatments are offered to people who are immunosuppressed to protect against severe COVID-19, but how best to choose the individuals that receive these vaccine booster doses and treatments is unclear. We investigated the association between seropositivity to SARS-CoV-2 spike protein with demographic, disease, and treatment-related characteristics after at least three COVID-19 vaccines in three cohorts of people who are immunosuppressed.

Methods: In a cross-sectional study using UK national disease registries, we identified, contacted, and recruited recipients of solid organ transplants, participants with rare autoimmune rheumatic diseases, and participants with lymphoid malignancies who were 18 years or older, resident in the UK, and who had received at least three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Background: A positive crossmatch (+ XM) has traditionally been associated with adverse outcomes following pediatric heart transplantation. However, more recent studies suggest that favorable intermediate-term outcomes may be achieved despite a + XM. This study's hypothesis is that children with a + XM have similar long-term survival, but higher rate of complications such as rejection, coronary allograft vasculopathy (CAV), and infection, compared to patients with a negative (-) XM.

Background: Globally, there is increasing interest in the use of real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) to inform health technology assessment (HTA) and reimbursement decision-making. Using current practices and case studies shared by eleven health systems in Asia, a non-binding guidance that seeks to align practices for generating and using RWD/RWE for decision-making in Asia was developed by the World Data n Aia for Halth Technology Assessment in Reimbursement (REALISE) Working Group, addressing a current gap and needs among HTA users and generators.

Methods: The guidance document was developed over two face-to-face workshops, in addition to an online survey, a face-to-face interview and pragmatic search of literature.

The recent advent of laminar flow-based microfluidic systems for molecular interaction analysis has enabled transformative new profiling of proteins in regards to their structure, disordering, complex formation and interactions in general. Based on the diffusive transport of molecules perpendicular to the direction of laminar flow in a microfluidic channel, systems of this type promise continuous-flow, high-throughput screening of complex, multi-molecule interactions, while remaining tolerant to heterogeneous mixtures. Using common microfluidic device processing, the technology provides unique opportunities, as well as device design and experimental challenges, for integrative sample handling approaches that can investigate biomolecular interaction events in complex samples with readily available laboratory equipment.

The rate at which fluorescently-labeled biomolecules, that are flowing at a constant speed in a microfluidic channel, diffuse into an adjacent buffer stream can be used to calculate the diffusion coefficient of the molecule, which then gives a measure of its size. Experimentally, determining the rate of diffusion involves capturing concentration gradients in fluorescence microscopy images at different distances along the length of the microfluidic channel, where distance corresponds to residence time, based on the flow velocity. The preceding chapter in this journal covered the development of the experimental setup, including information about the microscope camera detection systems used to acquire fluorescence microscopy data.

Objective: To describe the incidence of Kawasaki Disease (kDa) between 2006 and 2021 in England.

Methods: We identified all cases in hospital episode statistics with an ICD-10 diagnostic code M303 (for kDa) between 1 April 2006 and 31 March 2021. We validated 83 diagnoses using hospital medical records and found >97% accuracy.

Within the complex milieu of a cell, which comprises a large number of different biomolecules, interactions are critical for function. In this post-reductionist era of biochemical research, the 'holy grail' for studying biomolecular interactions is to be able to characterize them in native environments. While there are a limited number of in situ experimental techniques currently available, there is a continuing need to develop new methods for the analysis of biomolecular complexes that can cope with the additional complexities introduced by native-like solutions.

However, since the identification of Rubisco as the most abundant protein in leaf material, it has also been touted as a direct source of dietary protein. Objectives: Coronavirus 2019 vaccine responses in rare autoimmune rheumatic diseases (RAIRDs) remain poorly understood; in particular there is little known about whether people develop effective T cell responses. We conducted an observational study to evaluate the short-term humoral and cell-mediated T cell response after the second severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination in RAIRD patients compared with healthy controls (HCs).

Methods: Blood samples were collected after the second dose and anti-spike, anti-nucleocapsid antibody levels and SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell responses were measured and compared with those of HCs.

Positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is a respiratory/ventilation procedure that is used to maintain or improve breathing in clinical and experimental cases that exhibit impaired lung function. Body fluid shift movement is not monitored during PEEP application in intensive care units (ICU), which would be interesting specifically in hypotensive patients. Brain injured and hypotensive patients are known to have compromised cerebral blood flow (CBF) autoregulation (AR) but currently, there is no non-invasive way to assess the risk of implementing a hypotensive resuscitation strategy and PEEP use in these patients.
