Melanoma is the fifth most common skin cancer in the UK, accounting for 4% of all new cancer cases, with a predicted 7% increase in incidence between 2014-35. In parallel, since the initial publication of the Melanoma NICE Guidelines in 2015, there has been a paradigm shift in the management of the disease, with the introduction of effective systemic therapies. These innovations have reshaped the management of melanoma throughout the patient journey, and improved clinical outcomes.

Short peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs) are the default device for antimicrobial therapy but up to half fail before therapy completion, leading to suboptimal drug dosing, patient distress from repeated insertions, and increased healthcare costs. Objectives: The neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inflammatory biomarker which is useful in cancer prognostication. We aimed to investigate the differences in baseline NLR between patients with localised and metastatic cutaneous melanoma and how this biomarker changed over time with the recurrence of disease.
Methods: This multicentre cohort study describes patients treated for Stage I-III cutaneous melanoma over 10 years.
Sentinel node biopsy (SNB) has been at the forefront of the surgical staging of melanoma patients for the past 15 years. The high accuracy of this prognostic staging procedure is now recognised in all international guidelines for melanoma. However during this period there have been a number of important changes in the management of melanoma, many occurring within the past five years.

The interobserver variability in the histopathological assessment of primary cutaneous malignant melanoma (PCMM) is well recognised.
Methods: We evaluated the discordance rates in the assessment of the histopathological criteria of PCMM based on the eighth American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) melanoma staging system and subsequent change in prognosis and management following pathology review by an SSMDT.
A clinical oncolytic herpes simplex virus (HSV) encoding granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), talimogene laherparepvec, causes regression of injected and non-injected melanoma lesions in patients and is now licensed for clinical use in advanced melanoma. To date, limited data are available regarding the mechanisms of human anti-tumor immune priming, an improved understanding of which could inform the development of future combination strategies with improved efficacy.
