Parasitic copepods of the genus are remarkable. They occur in galls inside skeletal muscles of fishes and it is virtually impossible to overlook them, especially during fish handling and processing. The galls contain an intensively black ink-like substance that may stain fish tissue during filleting.

Nanoflex stainless steel is a promising material for medical applications. However, improvement of its mechanical properties without compromising its corrosion resistance is still a challenge. In order to investigate the effect of the nitriding process on the corrosion and wear resistance of Sandvik Nanoflex steel, a number of processes were carried out in a gas atmosphere with differing ammonia contents in the temperature range of 425-475 °C for 4 h.

A new slurry cementation method was used to produce silicide-aluminide protective coatings on austenitic stainless steel 1.4541. The slurry cementation processes were carried out at temperatures of 800 and 1000 °C for 2 h with and without an additional oxidation process at a temperature of 1000 °C for 5 min.

This paper presents a new approach to the extraction and analysis of information contained in magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) for evaluation of grain oriented (GO) electrical steels. The proposed methodology for MBN analysis is based on the combination of the Short-Time Fourier Transform for the observation of the instantaneous dynamics of the phenomenon and deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) for the extraction of hidden information and building the knowledge. The use of DCNN makes it possible to find even complex and convoluted rules of the Barkhausen phenomenon course, difficult to determine based solely on the selected features of MBN signals.

K-TIG (Keyhole Tungsten Inert Gas) method is a new, emerging welding technology that offers a significant acceleration of the joining process, even for very thick plates. However, its potential for welding of certain materials is still unknown. Particularly challenging are duplex steels as this technology does not allow the use of a filler material, which is crucial for these steels and for weld joint microstructure adjustment.

The demand for lightweight, strong structural profiles is currently high in the transport industry, mechanical engineering, and construction. Therefore, it is important to evaluate their properties, especially mechanical properties. The main objective of this paper is to determine energy absorption coefficients and evaluate the crush resistance of thin-walled aluminum profiles using numerical simulation and empirical verification.
