Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate corneal cross-linking (CXL) for keratoconus in pediatric patients.

Materials And Methods: After keratometric qualification according to the Amsler-Krumeich system, corneal collagen cross-linking was performed using ultraviolet light and photosensitizing riboflavin drops in 111 eyes of 74 children with a mean age of 15 ± 1.67 years.

Positive pressure ventilators (PPV) used by 97.7% of officers of the National Fire Service in Poland, are characterized by work that is not in line with the expectations of the firefighters. In order to improve the technical and operational features of these devices, a survey was conducted among 25,000 eligible firefighters, identifying the application of these devices, problems in use and expected development directions.

The article aims to determine the influence of fan positioning parameters, i.e., its distance from a door opening (1-7 m) and the angle of inclination of the impeller axis in relation to the ground (0°-18°) on the amount of air flow pumped through a door opening.

Modern systems of intelligent sensors commonly use radio data transmission. Hand movement acquisition with the use of inertial sensors requires the processing and transmission of a relatively large amount of data, which may be associated with a significant load on the network structure. Network traffic limitation, without losing the quality of monitoring parameters from the sensor system, is therefore important for the functioning of the radio network which integrates both the teletransmission sensor system and the data acquisition server.

The paper presents a wearable sensor for breath and pulse monitoring using an inertial sensor and episodic broadcast radio transmission. The data transmission control algorithm applied allows for the transmission of additional information using the standard PDU format and, at the same time, goes beyond the Bluetooth teletransmission standard (BLE). The episodic broadcast transmission makes it possible to receive information from sensors without the need to create a dedicated radio link or a defined network structure.

This article analyzes the possibility of the modification of BC powder (a mixture of sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate) with magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)). Extinguishing efficiency as well as the influence of this additive on other physicochemical properties were determined by performing a 13B fire test, rheological measurements of the powders, thermal tests (thermogravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in combination with quadrupole mass spectrometry (QMS)) and microscopic observations of the powders' surface (scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS)). It was found that the increase of the Mg(OH) content causes deterioration of the rheological properties by increasing the slope angle of the flow curve in relation to the normal stress (the tangent of the flow curve slope varying from 0.

Machines and devices for the production, transport and segregation of products are placed in production and storage rooms. Flat conveyor and drive belts are very often used for their construction. Due to heavy loads and difficult operating conditions, these belts can catch fire and, as a result, become the main source of air contaminants harmful to human health and life.

This study addresses the problems connected with knee joint inflammatory swelling diagnosis, especially cases which have difficulty meeting rheumatic and laboratory criteria. A percentage of patients were considered who met the clinical criteria of the Association of Rheumatoid Arthritis (ARA), proceeded without any deviations within the range of rheumatoid factor (RF) laboratory results, and where only serum non-specific immuno-complexes (CIC) increased. The decision to execute a more effective treatment variant (salazopirin, for example, instead of NSAID), required criterial reliability in practice.

The results presented give the evidence for the quasicritical, pretransitional behavior of dielectric properties in the isotropic phase of a rodlike nematic liquid crystal with the transverse permanent dipole moment. Studies were conducted in 2-cyano-4-pentylbiphenyl 4-(trans-4-pentylcyclohexyl) benzoate, focusing on the static-and ionic-dominated low-frequency (LF) regions. For the static dielectric permittivity [epsilon(')(T)] the application of the derivative analysis revealed the pretransitional anomaly associated with the specific heat exponent alpha approximately 0.
