This paper demonstrates the application of the Johnson-Holmquist II (JH-2) model with correlated and validated parameters to simulate the behavior of a sandstone. The JH-2 model is used to simulate various tests, including single-element tests, structural quasi-static uniaxial and triaxial compression tests, and the split Hopkinson pressure bar test. Additionally, the model is used to simulate drop-weight impact test using a ball bearing and two loading scenarios involving small-scale blasting and projectile impacts.

Methods: The clinical material included a group of 2194 patients treated surgically due to degenerative disease of the lumbar spine; we selected a total of 332 patients who were reoperated, and the indications for reoperation were analysed.
Results: The percentage of patients operated due to adjacent segment disease in the group of patients with stabilization was on average 8.
Background: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by a biallelic mutation in the SMN1 gene, resulting in progressive muscle weakness and atrophy. Nusinersen is the first disease-modifying drug for all SMA types. We report on effectiveness and safety data from 120 adults and older children with SMA types 1c-3 treated with nusinersen.

The aim of this study was to examine the occurrence of back and side view postural defects in the study group of school-aged children and identify risk factors associated with the formation of postural abnormalities in the study group.
Methods: This study was conducted on a group of 141 children aged 7-10, attending the first to third grades at a primary school in Białystok (northeastern Poland).
The number of implanted joint prostheses and damaged spinal components is steadily increasing. At the same time, rejection of the implanted material is observed in operated patients, which manifests itself in both skin and general reactions, as well as loosening and earlier wear of implanted prostheses, which was previously referred to as aseptic reactions. However, it has been shown that in a significant proportion of patients, rejection of implanted material may be caused by hypersensitivity to a specific metal.

Periprosthetic infections are the most common cause of loosening and destructive changes in the joints, however, the diagnosis of an aseptic reaction is not always fully obvious. Micromovements between the implant and the surrounding bone can cause remodeling of the bone trabeculae and migration of fibroblasts into the voids between the implant surface and the bone.

The construction of numerous cycle lanes in cities and promotion of physical activity aims to encourage the public to move around by bicycle. The aim of mass cycling is to reduce car exhaust emissions and, on the other hand, to improve public health. The paper presents the potential benefits of cycling, but also its negative effects on the human body.

Aim: The aim of the study was to analyse the deaths of patients with spine and limb injuries who required surgery.
Demyelinating changes in peripheral nerves are responsible for the neurological symptoms found. Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common causes of polyneuropathy and is found in 8-54% of patients with type I diabetes, 13-46% of patients with type II and 22-66% of alcohol abusers. In turn, chemotherapy, depending on the therapeutic regimens used, is responsible for the symptoms of polyneuropathy in 10-90% of patients.

A representative soil-vehicle-lighting pole model is first developed. The Geo Metro vehicle model is used, and significant attention is given to representing the soil and its interaction with the traffic pole.

Arthritis is one of the most important symptoms of late-stage borreliosis, observed in approximately 60% of untreated patients with Lyme disease. In several percent of them, this manifestation is of interest to orthopedic surgeons. The authors present a case of a patient, working as a forester, who underwent left hip replacement arthroplasty having contracted a infection in the past, and who was hospitalized 12 years before in the infectious ward due to suspected neuroborreliosis for which he was treated with Ceftriaxone 2 × 2.

Although the lipophilicity of drug candidates is determined using the shake flash method (-octanol/water system) or reversed phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC), more biosimilar alternatives to classical lipophilicity measurement are currently available. One of the alternatives is immobilized artificial membrane (IAM) chromatography.

Unlabelled: Damage to the cranio-vertebral junction includes bone and ligament structures as well as the nervous system. Due to the unique structure of the occipital-atlanto-axial complex (C0-C1-C2) and biomechanical properties, they cause a surgical challenge. The aim of the surgery is to achieve bone fusion and stability of occipital-atlanto-axial complex.

This study was aimed to evaluate the lipophilicity of isoxazolo[3,4-]pyridine-3(1)-ones and their N1-substituted derivatives, which demonstrated pronounced antifungal activities. Several methods, including reversed-phase thin layer chromatography (RP-TLC), reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC), and micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), were employed.

Unlabelled: The cause of septic arthritis in 20% of cases is anaerobic bacteria, including infections caused by Finegoldia magna. The occurrence of this pathogen in the etiology of postoperative post-implantive septic joint inflammations is estimated at 5-12% of all anaerobic infections, and 20-40% of all gram-positive anaerobic coccus (GPAC).
Case Reports: The 65-year-old male patient was admitted due to symptoms of pain in the left hip after having undergone arthroplasty three years prior.
Unlabelled: Intradural disc herniation is a very rare condition, which occurs in up to 0.3% cases of all disc herniations. It mostly develops at L4-L5 level, which is caused by the presence of strong adhesions between the posterior longitudinal ligament and dura mater.

The technique is suitable for a variety of cases, from mild to severe, since the head of the first metatarsal may be moved laterally to the edge of the first metatarsal bone, thereby allowing for a significant degree of correction.
Aim: The aim of the paper is to review the radiological results of patients suffering from hallux valgus who underwent Stoffella metatarsal I osteotomy.
This paper presents a characterization study of specimens manufactured from Ti-6Al-4V powder with the use of laser engineered net shaping technology (LENS). Two different orientations of the specimens were considered to analyze the loading direction influence on the material mechanical properties. Moreover, two sets of specimens, as-built (without heat treatment) and after heat treatment, were used.
