Background  Membranous nephropathy (MN) is the second most common adult-onset nephrotic syndrome worldwide. Traditionally, these were classified as primary and secondary, with primary causes showing higher positivity for various antigens, including M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R), a key antigen located in the podocyte against which antibodies are directed. Aim The aim of this study is to analyze the cases diagnosed as MN with clinicopathological parameters and PLA2R positivity by immunohistochemistry in renal biopsies.

Introduction The clinical importance of androgen receptor (AR) status in breast cancer is uncertain. The existing knowledge regarding the association of androgen receptor expression with clinicopathological factors of breast cancer is also limited. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the AR expression in breast cancer and to correlate it with the Ki67 proliferative index and other clinicopathological prognostic factors.

Introduction Endometrial cancer, one of the most prevalent gynecological malignancies, represents a significant contributor to global mortality and morbidity. The histological subtype of this cancer is pivotal in treatment planning and patient risk stratification. This case series, comprising seven cases, underscores the significance of rare endometrial cancer variants and the importance of ancillary studies, specifically immunohistochemistry, in comprehending and diagnosing the condition.

Article Synopsis
  • Molecular characteristics of invasive breast cancer and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) are linked to risks of early relapse, prompting a study to explore their correlations through histopathological and biomarker analysis.
  • The study analyzed 100 DCIS cases, assessing features such as tumor location, type, and grade, while performing immunohistochemical staining for various receptors and the Ki-67 labeling index to determine molecular subtypes.
  • Results indicated most DCIS cases were positive for estrogen and progesterone receptors, with significant correlations found between histopathological characteristics and receptor status, highlighting the potential implications for treatment and prognosis.

Introduction Cervical cancer ranks among the top gynaecological cancers worldwide. It is linked to lower socioeconomic status and high human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence. This is a series of six cervical carcinoma cases analysed from 2021 to 2023 at our tertiary care centre to identify rare subtypes of cervical carcinoma.

This study investigated the reproductive toxicity of rhodamine B in zebrafish and its transgenerational effects on the F1 generation. In silico toxicity predictions revealed high toxicity of rhodamine B, mainly targeting pathways associated with the reproductive and endocrine systems. In vivo experiments on zebrafish demonstrated that rhodamine B exposure at a concentration of 1.

Paraprobiotics, known as non-viable or ghost probiotics, have attracted attention for their benefits over live microbial cells. This study was designed to investigate the paraprobiotic effects of heat-killed Bacillus coagulans on the white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. The paraprobiotic formulation was prepared in three different concentrations including B.

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of parents/caregivers toward epilepsy in paediatric patients at a tertiary care centre of North India.

Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out among 418 parents or caregivers using convenience sampling technique with 16-item questionnaire in English language and also translated to local language that is Hindi. Children with epilepsy who visited the paediatric outpatient department within a year were included in the study (January 2021-22).

Shrimp aquaculture is a rapidly growing sector that makes a significant economic contribution. However, the aquaculture industry is confronted with significant challenges, and infectious diseases, notably Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND), have emerged as severe threat. AHPND is caused by pathogens carrying the pVA-1 plasmid, which expresses the PirAB toxin, and it has wreaked havoc in shrimp aquaculture, imposing substantial economic burdens.

Traditional parotidectomy incision was devised by Blair (1912) which was modified by Bailey (1941). Over the years various approaches and techniques have evolved to improve the aesthetic outcome and at the same time for complete disease clearance with reduced complications. In this study, we evaluated the feasibility of our mini-incision parotidectomy technique along with the surgical and quality of life (QOL) outcomes.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the predominant type of esophageal cancer in the Asian belt. These cancers show poor prognosis with an overall 5-year survival rate less than 19%. Exploring new molecular therapeutic targets such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) could be the corner stone of new curative treatment.

Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy of breast shear wave elastography (SWE) and p63 immunohistochemistry (IHC) in the diagnosis of indeterminate breast lesions.

Methods: Based on detailed clinical examination and a combination of X-ray mammography/B-mode ultrasound with SWE, a total of 40 patients with breast lumps (BI-RADS 4) were included. Patients with previous diagnosis of breast cancer and a previous history of surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy in the same breast as the present lesion were excluded.

Background: There are a wide range of diagnostic markers for colorectal cancers like detection of mutated KRAS, TP53, and APC genes. However, genetic and immunological factors have also been attributed to the cancer prognosis. The present study was carried out to evaluate the expression of CTLA-4 in colorectal cancers.

Article Synopsis
  • Mammography is the preferred method for detecting breast cancer, and p63 is a useful biomarker for identifying myoepithelial cells, which indicate benign conditions.
  • This study involved 80 patients classified into BI-RADS 4 subcategories based on mammogram findings, revealing 57 low suspicion (4A), 12 moderate suspicion (4B), and 11 high suspicion (4C) cases.
  • The goal is to analyze the correlation between BI-RADS grading and p63 expression to improve diagnostic accuracy and potentially avoid unnecessary surgeries for cases that may be benign.

Introduction: Imaging-guided breast tissue biopsy has become an acceptable alternative to open surgical biopsy for nonpalpable breast lesions. Discussion of abnormal results of the correlation between imaging and pathological findings can be very challenging as it can assist in decision-making with regard to the further treatment options by arriving at a comprehensive diagnosis.

Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective study.

Facial nerve identification is considered to be a crucial step in parotid surgery as inadvertent injury to the nerve will lead to facial paralysis. Multiple landmarks are described in literature to identify the facial nerve during parotid surgery but controversies remain as the consistency and accuracy of these landmarks vary. Numerous studies exist in literature but they fail to address a single landmark that is most reliable to identify the facial nerve during parotid surgery.
