Gender identification and morphologic classification of tooth, arch and palatal forms in Saudi population.

Aims: To determine various tooth form, arch form, and palatal form with gender identification between males and females of the Saudi population.

Materials And Methods: Irreversible hydrocolloid impressions were made of the maxillary teeth of 100 dentate male and female subjects to obtain study casts. A standardized procedure was adopted to photograph the maxillary dental arches and the maxillary central incisors on the study casts taken from each subject.

Prosthetic management of hemimandibulectomy patient with guiding plane and twin occlusion prosthesis.

Mandibular deviation is multifactorial defect and its severity is based on the extent of osseous and soft tissue involvement, degree of tongue impaired, the loss of sensory and motor innervations, the type of wound closure, the presence of remaining natural teeth and finally the first initiation of prosthetic treatment. We describe a case of prosthetic management of a maxillary partially edentulous patient with hemimandibulectomy who reported after 4 years of postsurgical cancer therapy. A simple maxillary guided hollow inclined plane with twin occlusion acrylic prosthesis was fabricated as a functional training device to correct mandibular deviation, restore maxillomandibular relation and occlusal approximation.

The role of virtual articulator in prosthetic and restorative dentistry.

Virtual reality is a computer based technology linked with the future of dentistry and dental practice. The virtual articulator is one such application in prosthetic and restorative dentistry based on virtual reality that will significantly reduce the limitations of the mechanical articulator, and by simulation of real patient data, allow analyses with regard to static and dynamic occlusion as well as to jaw relation. It is the purpose of this article to present the concepts and strategies for a future replacement of the mechanical articulator by a virtual one.

Prosthetic management of a masticatory muscle disorder with customized occlusal splint.

Occlusal splints of various types and designs are used in the diagnosis and treatment of different masticatory muscle and TMJ disorders. These appliances or devices provide a relatively simple, reversible and non-invasive form of treatment management. Treating such a disorder is really challenging for both dental and medical specialists and often it is difficult to diagnose as the presenting symptoms can be variable.

A natural eye is surgically removed by enucleation, evisceration or exenteration because of trauma, pathology or tumor.

A clinical study to evaluate the correlation between maxillary central incisor tooth form and face form in an Indian population.

A study was performed to examine the correlation between maxillary central incisor tooth form and face form in males and females in an Indian population. The selection of prosthetic teeth for edentulous patients is a primary issue in denture esthetics, especially in the case of maxillary central incisors, which are the most prominent teeth in the arch. Two hundred dental students of Indian origin comprising 79 males and 121 females aged 18-28 years studying at Bapuji Dental College and Hospital were randomly selected as the study subjects.
