Nowadays, experimental research advances in condensed matter physics are deep-rooted in the development and manipulation of nanomaterials, making it essential to explore the fundamental properties of materials that are candidates for nanotechnology. In this work, we study the dependence of the molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) Raman modes on the sample temperature and on the excitation laser power. From the correlation between these two sets of measurements, we determine the planar thermal conductivity of MoSmonolayers, bilayers, trilayers, four layers, seven layers, and eight layers.

Optimizing Surgical Outcomes: A Case Series on BREAST-V for Treating Breast Asymmetries.

Background: Breast asymmetry occurs when there is a discrepancy in the shape, volume, or positioning of the breasts. Various factors, including unequal development of breast buds, endocrine disorders, chest wall deformities, and surgical or posttraumatic sequelae, can contribute to this condition. Although breast asymmetry is common, clinically severe cases are rare and often require surgical correction because of potential postural, aesthetic, and psychological issues.

Two new species and an updated key: Melastomateae from the Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Here we describe and illustrate and two new species of the Melastomateae tribe from Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil. We also provide an updated identification key for the members of the tribe that occur in this Protected Area. has coriaceous leaves, broadly ovate to orbicular leaf blade, entire and adpressed-strigose margin, 11-17 basal acrodromous veins, and flowers with white petals.

The Hierarchical Coevolutionary Units of Ecological Networks.

In ecological networks, cohesive groups of species may shape the evolution of interactions, serving as coevolutionary units. Ranging across network scales, from motifs to isolated components, elucidating which cohesive groups are more determinant for coevolution remains a challenge in ecology. We address this challenge by integrating 376 empirical mutualistic and antagonistic networks and coevolutionary models.

Brazilian children's quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic: analysis of contextual factors and dimensions.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the contextual factors associated with the quality of life (QOL) of Brazilian children aged 0-12 years during the strict period of social isolation.

Methods: This observational cross-sectional study was conducted between July and September 2020 using an online questionnaire on QOL-related family factors and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL™). Results were analyzed by multinomial logistic regression analysis.

Coevolutionary hotspots favour dispersal and fuel biodiversity in mutualistic landscapes under environmental changes.

Mutualistic interactions are key to sustaining Earth's biodiversity. Yet, we are only beginning to understand how coevolution in mutualistic assemblages can shape the distribution and persistence of species across landscapes. Here, we combine the geographic mosaic theory of coevolution with metacommunity dynamics to understand how geographically structured selection can shape patterns of richness, dispersal, extinction and persistence of mutualistic species.

Penile prosthesis in priapism: a systematic review of outcomes and complications.

Background: Priapism is a rare condition characterized by persistent erection of the penis that lasts more than 4 hours in the absence of sexual stimulation and is associated with significant morbidity and complications, including erectile dysfunction and penile fibrosis. Surgical management of priapism can be extremely challenging. We herein provide a comprehensive review that aims to evaluate the role of penile prosthesis (PP) implantation in the management of priapism.

Anxiety Levels in Brazilian Women with Metastatic Breast Cancer Undergoing Palliative Chemotherapy: A Prospective Study.

Objective: This study aimed to assess anxiety levels among women with metastatic breast cancer undergoing palliative chemotherapy.

Methods: A descriptive, prospective study was conducted at an oncology hospital in southern Brazil from September 2021 to October 2022. A total of 123 adult women receiving outpatient palliative chemotherapy were included in the study.

Effect of guided imagery relaxation on anxiety in cervical cancer: randomized clinical trial.

Objectives: to evaluate the effect of guided imagery relaxation through virtual reality on anxiety in women with cervical cancer undergoing radiochemotherapy.

Methods: randomized, non-blinded, single-center clinical trial conducted at a cancer reference hospital. 52 women participated, with randomized allocation of 24 in the control group and 28 in the experimental group (12 sessions of guided imagery relaxation through virtual reality, applied three times a week).

Quality of life and financial toxicity of hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients in COVID-19.

Objective: to evaluate and correlate the quality of life and financial toxicity of adult patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Method: observational, analytical study, carried out with 35 patients in a reference hospital for transplantation in Latin America. For data collection, the Functional Assessment Cancer Therapy Bone Marrow Transplantation and COmprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity questionnaires were used.

Indirect effects shape species fitness in coevolved mutualistic networks.

Ecological interactions are one of the main forces that sustain Earth's biodiversity. A major challenge for studies of ecology and evolution is to determine how these interactions affect the fitness of species when we expand from studying isolated, pairwise interactions to include networks of interacting species. In networks, chains of effects caused by a range of species have an indirect effect on other species they do not interact with directly, potentially affecting the fitness outcomes of a variety of ecological interactions (such as mutualism).

Aircrew Health: A Systematic Review of Physical Agents as Occupational Risk Factors.

The primary objective of this systematic review was to analyze the main physical agents representing risk factors for commercial aircrew, together with their consequences. The secondary objective was to identify the countries in which studies on the topic were conducted, as well as the quality of the publications available. Thirty-five articles, published between 1996 and 2020, were selected for the review, having met all inclusion criteria.

Ecological drivers of breeding periodicity in four forest neotropical eagles.

We explore the potential factors that affect clutch initiation in four Neotropical large raptors (Harpy eagle-HE, Crested eagle-CE, Ornate hawk-eagle-OHE, and Black hawk-eagle-BHE) by analyzing 414 clutch events mostly obtained from captive individuals. Differences in how clutch initiation is associated with changes in photoperiod were found between HE and both hawk-eagles, and between CE and BHE. Changes in temperature at the time of clutch initiation only differed between HE and OHE, whereas changes in precipitation varied between BHE and all other species.

Organizational Risk Factors for Aircrew Health: A Systematic Review of Observational Studies.

Addressing the field of health and safety at work, the primary objective of the present systematic review was to analyze the organizational risk factors for aircrew health according to professional category (flight attendants and pilots/co-pilots) and their consequences. The secondary objective was to identify the countries in which studies were carried out, focusing on the quality of content of the publications. The Medline/Pubmed, Cochrane, Web of Science, and Scopus databases were searched for eligible studies according to PRISMA statements.

Mutualistic coevolution and community diversity favour persistence in metacommunities under environmental changes.

Linking local to regional ecological and evolutionary processes is key to understand the response of Earth's biodiversity to environmental changes. Here we integrate evolution and mutualistic coevolution in a model of metacommunity dynamics and use numerical simulations to understand how coevolution can shape species distribution and persistence in landscapes varying in space and time. Our simulations show that coevolution and species richness can synergistically shape distribution patterns by increasing colonization and reducing extinction of populations in metacommunities.

The efficacy, safety, and outcomes of testosterone use among transgender men patients: A review of the literature.

Introduction: Gender dysphoria is the discrepancy between biological sex and gender identity. This can be debilitating for transgender populations, including transgender men (TM), individuals who were assigned female at birth but who identify as men, that can benefit from hormonal therapy with testosterone products to address gender dysphoria.

Methods: We aim to summarize the efficacy, safety profile, and outcomes of the different testosterone replacement treatment (TRT) in the TM population.

Retropectoral Fat Graft Survival in Mammoplasty: Evaluation by Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Background: Fat grafting is used in combination with mammoplasty to improve filling of the upper pole of the breasts. Its effectiveness remains in question due to unpredictable results. Difficulty in isolating the grafted fat and differentiating it from host tissues may hinder assessment of graft integration.

Effects of guided imagery relaxation in hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation patients: a quasi-experimental study.

Objective: To analyze the effects of the technique of virtual reality guided imagery in the vital signs of hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation patients.

Method: Quasi-experimental study with 35 participants who received an intervention using virtual reality guided imagery with progressive muscle relaxation, applied three times a week for four weeks in a referral hospital for transplants in the south of Brazil. Data collected included: temperature, arterial pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate, pain, and oxygen saturation, before and after each intervention.

Ehrlich and Raven escape and radiate coevolution hypothesis at different levels of organization: Past and future perspectives.

The classic paper by Ehrlich and Raven on coevolution will soon be 60 years old. Although they were not the first to develop the idea of coevolution, their thought-provoking paper certainly popularized this idea and inspired several generations of scientists interested in coevolution. Here, we describe some of their main contributions, quantitatively measure the impact of their seminal paper on different fields of research, and discuss how ideas related to their original paper might push the study of coevolution forward.

Translation and psychometric validity of the Brazilian version of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer-colorectal liver metastases module.

Patients with liver metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC) experience important lifestyle changes that impair the quality of life (QoL). The use of instruments is important to assess the cancer patients' QoL. To develop a Brazilian translation of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire Colorectal Liver Metastases (QLQ-LMC21) questionnaire, and to investigate psychometric validity in patients with CRC with liver metastases, patients with liver metastasis from CRC answered the Brazilian versions of EORTC core Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (QLQ-C30) and the QLQ-LMC21 module, a demographic data questionnaire and a questionnaire to assess understanding against the translated QLQ-LMC21.
