This work focuses on enhancing the detection of the herbicide glyphosate using a two-step chemical modification process, followed by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS).
The first step increases glyphosate's affinity for metal surfaces with the addition of a sulfur-containing group, while the second step cyclizes it into a thiazole derivative, improving detection sensitivity.
The ultimate goal is to create a portable and cost-effective detection system for glyphosate using innovative technology from SAFTRA Photonics Ltd., enabling easy environmental monitoring.
