Background: Infectious mononucleosis after primary infection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV-IM) has been linked to the development of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue-syndrome (ME/CFS) in children, adolescents, and young adults. Here, we present clinical phenotypes and follow-up data from a first German cohort of young people with ME/CFS following EBV-IM.
Methods: 12 adolescents and 13 young adults were diagnosed with IM-triggered ME/CFS at our specialized tertiary outpatient service by clinical criteria requiring post-exertional malaise (PEM) and a history of confirmed EBV primary infection as triggering event.
A subset of patients with post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) fulfill the clinical criteria of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). To establish the diagnosis of ME/CFS for clinical and research purposes, comprehensive scores have to be evaluated. We developed the Munich Berlin Symptom Questionnaires (MBSQs) and supplementary scoring sheets (SSSs) to allow for a rapid evaluation of common ME/CFS case definitions.

Methods: The programme, named NeoPAss, was developed at the Department of Neonatology Children's hospital Passau in 2013. Short-term outcomes of infants were compared to matched controls from the Bavarian neonatology surveillance database before (n = 111; 2008-2012) and after implementation (n = 170; 2014-2017).

Objective: The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS) and the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN) are established measures in the investigation of social anxiety. Furthermore, the subscale Interpersonal Sensitivity of the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI-53) is frequently used to screen social anxiety. All three scales claim to capture the same construct, which raises the question of the convergence of these scales.

In this study, we examined a homogeneous sample of patients with social anxiety disorder and investigated whether MS in sessions 3 and 8 would be associated with therapy outcome and therapeutic alliance, and whether these associations depend on the therapeutic approach. : The patients ( = 267) were treated with either manual-guided cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), manual-guided psychodynamic therapy (PDT), or naturalistic CBT.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn psychotherapy, movement synchrony seems to be associated with higher patient satisfaction and treatment outcome. However, it remains unclear whether movement synchrony rated by humans and movement synchrony identified by automated methods reflect the same construct. To address this issue, video sequences showing movement synchrony of patients and therapists (N = 10) or not (N = 10), were analyzed using motion energy analysis.

Additionally, it seems to be important in human interactions, such as during psychotherapy. Currently, there are several options for the automated determination of synchrony based on linear time series analysis methods (TSAMs).

Methods: A prospective study was performed for VRARH using the da Vinci robotic surgical system in 12 patients. The procedure was indicated in patients with cervical cancer stage FIGO IB1 after laparoscopic lymphadenectomy.
We report on a fetus presenting with increased nuchal translucency at 11 weeks' gestation, suggesting cystic hygroma. Chorion villous sampling was performed, and cytogenetic analysis revealed a supernumerary isochromosome 5p leading to tetrasomy 5p: 47,XX,+ i(5p)[7]/46,XX[5] after short-term culture and 47,XX,+ i(5p)[20] after long-term culture. Subsequent targeted sonographic follow-up at 12 and 14 weeks revealed further increase of the NT to 6.

Twenty-one percent entered solo practice, 57% joined a group practice or partnership, and 22% became salaried physicians in a number of different categories. Surgeons and psychiatrists, more than other types of specialist, were inclined to select solo practice.
