Paramedic literature search filters: optimised for clinicians and academics.

Background: Search filters aid clinicians and academics to accurately locate literature. Despite this, there is no search filter or Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) term pertaining to paramedics. Therefore, the aim of this study was to create two filters to meet to different needs of paramedic clinicians and academics.

This review analysed interventions to support mental health of health professional students and their effects. The full holdings of Medline, PsycINFO, EBM Reviews, Cinahl Plus, ERIC and EMBASE were searched until 15th April 2016.

The pharmacokinetics of perchlorate and its effect on the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis in the male rat.

Perchlorate, an environmental contaminant, is known to disturb the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis by blocking iodide accumulation in the thyroid. Iodide deficiency can lead to hypothyroidism and goiter in rats. The objective of the study was to characterize the pharmacokinetics of perchlorate in male Sprague-Dawley rats relative to inhibition of thyroidal radiolabeled iodide uptake and onset of up-regulation of the HPT axis.
