Quality of life in adolescents with narcolepsy type 1- a transversal study in a tertiary hospital.

Purpose: - Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) is a rare chronic sleep disorder, usually arising by adolescence that negatively impacts quality of life. It is characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), cataplexy, hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations, sleep paralysis and sleep fragmentation. The goals of this work were to characterize NT1 adolescents regarding sleep characteristics, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and future life perspectives and later to compare this group with a control group of healthy adolescents (HA).

Drug-Related Adverse Reactions in Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

The therapeutic approach to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is complex, often involving multiple pharmacologic classes. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence of drug-related adverse reactions (ARs) associated with therapies used in pediatric IBD. We conducted a retrospective study of pediatric patients with IBD followed in a tertiary hospital from 2010 to 2022.

Ocular Tuberculosis in Pediatrics: A Case Report.

A 17-year-old male was taken to the emergency department for decreased left visual acuity and floaters beginning that same day. There was a history of exposure to pulmonary tuberculosis five years before (mother as index case) followed by a four-month period of isoniazid prophylaxis. The ophthalmic examination showed posterior and intermediate uveitis in the left eye.

Pediatric Thyroidectomy: Experience From a Portuguese Hospital.

Background and objective Pediatric thyroid disease requiring surgery is rare. Thyroid nodules are a frequent indication for surgery and are mostly benign. However, up to 25% of cases can be malignant.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus - Population characterization and metabolic control outcomes in a Portuguese patient sample.

Aims: To characterize a cohort of T1D patients and to compare diabetes control between patients using different regimen of insulin therapy and glucose monitoring.

Methods: Were included all T1D patients followed at the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit, between April 1st and June 30th, 2021. Several clinical and demographic variables were analyzed.
