- A significant number of patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO) carry antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), with about 10% experiencing relapsing disease, prompting the need to evaluate the adjusted global antiphospholipid syndrome score (aGAPSS) for its predictive capabilities.
- A study involving 472 RVO patients and 346 controls revealed a much higher prevalence of high-risk aPL profiles in RVO patients, especially those with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), compared to controls.
- The findings suggest that an aGAPSS score of 6 or more is a strong predictor of RVO recurrence, indicating its potential usefulness in identifying patients at risk for relapsing disease after vascular risk

Objectives: To analyze the lipid profile and serum folate, vitamin B and homocysteine levels, in patients with RVO and a population-based control group.
