Health Screening Among a Rural, Hourly Workforce: North Carolina SERVIRE Project.

Introduction: This study demonstrates the feasibility of a novel, business-partnered, and worksite-based approach to healthcare access to facilitate chronic disease screening and diagnosis among rural hourly workers. The prevalence of undiagnosed and untreated diabetes and hypertension among screening participants was determined.

Methods: From February 2021 to June 2023, investigators partnered with 29 businesses to screen 1,114 workers.

Willingness to Vaccinate Against COVID-19: Predictors of Vaccine Uptake Among Adults in the US.

The uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine will determine the trajectory for improved population health and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Identifying factors associated with vaccine acceptance is imperative as public health officials strategize to improve uptake. In this study, we identified predictors of vaccine willingness and acceptance using univariate logistic regression to model predictors and calculate odds ratios.

Uterine rupture in patients with a prior cesarean delivery: the impact of cervical ripening.

The purpose of this study was to examine factors that were associated with uterine rupture in patients attempting vaginal birth after cesarean delivery. We analyzed the results of all patients attempting vaginal birth after cesarean delivery between September 1996 to December 1999 at a single institution using a contemporaneously maintained registry. Maternal factors, fetal factors, and management of labor were all assessed to determine the risk factors associated with symptomatic uterine rupture at the time of attempted vaginal birth after cesarean delivery.

Preoperative assessment and risk reduction in gynecologic surgery patients.

Unlabelled: The prevention of complications during or after surgery is of interest to surgeon and patient alike. Identification of a patient's risk for perioperative complications requires a mix of good fundamental medicine, clinical and laboratory assessment tools, and clinical experience. Once identified, reduction of modifiable risk leads to better clinical outcomes.

Use of topical recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor BB in abdominal wound separation.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the topical application of recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor gel influences healing after abdominal wound separation.

Study Design: A double-blinded randomized placebo-controlled trial was conducted in patients with surgical wound separation.

Results: Ten patients were randomized to treatment, and 11 patients were randomized to placebo.
