We investigated the Diels-Alder reaction of 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (1) with small dienophiles such as (bridged) dihydronaphthalenes/cyclohexenes that yielded adducts at the central ring, the other dienophiles predominantly or exclusively attacked the unsubstituted off-center ring. The difference in regioselectivity was investigated by DFT calculations. Apart from dispersion interactions, it is due to the steric demand of the dienophiles, which need to fit in between the silylethynyl substituents to react at the central ring.

To improve the understanding of the extraction chemistry of An(iii) and Ln(iii) with N-donor ligands 2,6-bis(5-(-butyl)-1-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine (C4-BPP) in the presence of 2-bromohexanoic acid was investigated. Extraction studies showed an excellent separation factor of SF ≈ 200 and SF ≈ 60 in comparison with the structurally similar ligand 2,6-bis(5-neopentyl-1-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine C5-BPP (SF ≈ 100), even though C5-BPP showed significantly higher stability constants. Time-resolved laser fluorescence spectroscopy (TRLFS) studies revealed the formation of the ternary 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complexes [Eu(C4-BPP) (2-bromohexanoate) ] ( = 1-2) ( and ).

Using unconventional synthesis protocols, two redox-active triguanidine units are connected by a dithiolate bridge, aligning the two redox-active units in close proximity. The reduced, neutral and the tetracationic redox states with two dicationic triguanidine units are isolated and fully characterized. Then, the dicationic redox states are prepared by mixing the neutral and tetracationic molecules.

Unlabelled: What effects do international crises have on the public legitimacy of International Organizations (IOs)? Deviating from previous research, we argue that such crises make those international organizations more salient that are mandated to solve the respective crisis. This results in two main effects. First, the public legitimacy of those IOs becomes more dependent on citizens' crisis-induced worries, leading to a more positive view of those IOs.

Cysteine residues in proteins are targets of numerous post-translational modifications and play important roles in protein structure and enzymatic function. Consequently, understanding the full biochemistry of proteins depends on determining the oxidation state and availability of the residues to be modified. We have developed a highly sensitive assay that accurately determines the number of unmodified cysteine residues in GST-fusion proteins.
