Angiomyofibroblastoma is a benign, usually small neoplasm typically constituted by spindle-shaped and epithelioid cells in a vascularized, myxoid-fibrous stromal background. It is most often seen in the superficial genitalia of female patients of reproductive age. However, various clinical and histologic features have been reported, including tumors in male patients, malignant transformation, extragenital sites, huge sizes, and a prominent lipomatous pattern.

Selective ISL1 expression is shown in neuroendocrine, non-neuroendocrine, and some soft tissue tumors including desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT). We assessed the specificity of ISL1 (clone EP283, 1:500, Cell Marque) in 288 soft tissue tumors, which included 17 DSRCTs and other histologic mimics.

Background: Ewing's sarcoma is an uncommon, aggressive malignancy that typically presents as an osseous lesion, most commonly in children and adolescents. Very rarely Ewing's sarcoma can present as an intradural extramedullary mass mimicking more common tumors.
Observations: A 32-year-old female had a left L3 nerve root-associated lesion identified in the setting of recent-onset radiculopathy.
Islet-1 (ISL1) plays key roles in programming the epigenome and facilitating the recruitment of additional regulatory factors. Although it has been used as a marker for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs), ISL1 reactivity in other tumor types are critically missing. ISL1 immunohistochemistry was performed on 147 neuroendocrine tumors (NET) originated in pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, lung, thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal medulla, head/neck, genitourinary tract, and skin; and 110 non-neuroendocrine tumors originated in the pancreas, thymus, lung, thyroid, mesothelium, adrenal cortex, stomach, breast, head/neck, skin, and kidney.

In contrast, well-differentiated/dedifferentiated liposarcoma typically presents in the retroperitoneum as large masses. We provide clinicopathologic and follow-up details of 9 retroperitoneal/intra-abdominal benign lipomatous tumors (BLT) and discuss the utility of ancillary fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in distinguishing from their malignant counterparts.

It is also known as mammary-type myofibroblastoma outside of the breast, more frequently located along the embryonic milk line. Exceptionally, myofibroblastoma can occur at visceral locations.

Introduction: Spinal osteoblastomas are primary benign bone tumors most commonly presenting as diffuse back pain in young adults. Rarely, spinal osteoblastoma is associated with ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF), a form of ectopic bone formation, which can present with myelopathy. This report highlights a unique case of a patient with spinal osteoblastoma, associated OLF, and thoracic myelopathy.

We aimed to compare the macrophage profiles between normal livers and those with various chronic liver diseases in the precirrhotic fibrosis stage. Immunohistochemistry was performed for three macrophage markers (CD163, CD68, and IBA1) on 48 liver biopsies.

A limited number of studies that examined the mutational profiles in chordomas identified potential driver mutations, including duplication in the TBXT gene (encoding brachyury), mutations in the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, and loss of the CDKN2A gene. Most chordomas remain without clear driver mutations, and no fusion genes have been identified thus far.

Spontaneous canine HS exhibits increased prevalence in specific breeds, shares key genetic and biologic similarities with the human disease, and occurs in an immunocompetent setting. Previous data allude to the immunogenicity of this disease in both species, highlighting the potential for their successful treatment with immunotherapy.

Methods: A total of 926 patients consisting of 416 endometrial cancer (EC) and 510 normal endometrium were included. The CT images of these patients were segmented manually, and divided into training, validation, testing and external testing sets.
Aims: To determine if neurologic symptoms at admission can predict adverse outcomes in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
Methods: Electronic medical records of 1053 consecutively hospitalized patients with laboratory-confirmed infection of SARS-CoV-2 from one large medical center in the USA were retrospectively analyzed. Univariable and multivariable Cox regression analyses were performed with the calculation of areas under the curve (AUC) and concordance index (C-index).
To explore the role of chronic liver disease (CLD) in COVID-19. A total of 1439 consecutively hospitalized patients with COVID-19 from one large medical center in the United States from March 16, 2020 to April 23, 2020 were retrospectively identified. Clinical characteristics and outcomes were compared between patients with and without CLD.

Materials And Methods: Clinical data were collected from 981 patients from a multi-institutional international cohort with real-time polymerase chain reaction-confirmed COVID-19. Radiomics features were extracted from chest CT of the patients.
Objectives: Ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1 (IBA1), a marker of microglia/macrophages, has not been investigated in human hematopathologic contexts. We evaluated its expression in mature and immature neoplasms of monocytic/histiocytic and dendritic cell (DC) origin.
Methods: Immunohistochemistry for IBA1, CD14, CD68, and CD163 was performed on a total of 114 cases, including a spectrum of monocytic/histiocytic and DC neoplasms (20 tissue based and 59 bone marrow based) and several nonhistiocytic/monocytic/DC neoplasms as control groups (15 tissue based and 20 bone marrow based).

Ameloblastic carcinoma is a rare aggressive malignant epithelial odontogenic tumor. The spindle cell variant of ameloblastic carcinoma (SCAC) is exceedingly rare with 15 cases of SCAC having been reported. Therefore, because of the paucity of cases in literature related to SCAC, the biological behavior of the entity has not been well evaluated.

Methods: A total of 1356 patients (2899 images) with histologically confirmed primary bone tumors and pre-operative radiographs were identified from five institutions' pathology databases. Manual cropping was performed by radiologists to label the lesions.
Pre-treatment determination of renal cell carcinoma aggressiveness may help guide clinical decision-making. We aimed to differentiate low-grade (Fuhrman I-II) from high-grade (Fuhrman III-IV) renal cell carcinoma using radiomics features extracted from routine MRI. 482 pathologically confirmed renal cell carcinoma lesions from 2008 to 2019 in a multicenter cohort were retrospectively identified.

This study developed a deep learning algorithm that distinguishes benign from malignant ovarian lesion by applying a convolutional neural network on routine MR imaging.
Methods: Five hundred forty-five lesions (379 benign and 166 malignant) from 451 patients from a single institution were divided into training, validation, and testing set in a 7:2:1 ratio.
Objectives: Carcinosarcomas of the salivary gland are rare neoplasms and have been described arising de novo or in association with pleomorphic adenoma (PA). PLAG1 and HMGA2 translocations are known to occur in PAs and carcinomas ex PA but are mutually exclusive.
Methods: We report a case of a carcinosarcoma in the parotid gland of a 77-year-old man with unusual anaplastic sarcomatoid giant cell morphology.
Lessons Learned: Palbociclib monotherapy demonstrated minimal clinical activity in patients with previously treated gastroesophageal cancers. Further clinical evaluation of palbociclib monotherapy is not warranted in gastroesophageal cancers, but improved understanding of resistance mechanisms may permit rational combination approaches.
