Using computer simulations and experiments, we demonstrate that polymer backbone rigidity can be used to tune selectivities and permeabilities of lithium over magnesium in hydrated polymer membranes. Coarse-grained molecular dynamics (CGMD) simulations suggest a strong dependence of cation diffusion coefficients on polymer segmental dynamics and cation-solvent coordination strength, with water content and backbone dynamics having distinct effects on transport properties. We aimed to understand 1) whether these discussions provide a meaningful opportunity to practice applying an antiracist lens in patient care, 2) the feasibility of implementing these discussions in a clinical reasoning format, and 3) the acceptability to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and white residents.
Methods: In 2021, 4 clinical reasoning conference pilot sessions were implemented in a pediatrics residency program.
Continuous monitoring of oil discharges in coastal and open ocean waters using Earth Observation (EO) has undeniably contributed to diminishing their occurrence wherever a detection system was in place, such as in Europe (EMSA's CleanSeaNet) or in the United States (NOAA's OR&R). This study describes the development and testing of a semi-automated oil slick detection system tailored to the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) marine park solely based on EO data as no such service was routinely available in Australia until recently. In this study, a large, curated, historical global dataset of SAR imagery acquired by Sentinel-1 SAR, now publicly available, is used to assess classification techniques, namely an empirical approach and a deep learning model, to discriminate between oil-like features and look-alikes in the scenes acquired over the marine park.

However, initial evaluation data gathered from Foundry centers have shown that boys and young men are half as likely to access Foundry compared to girls and young women. Novel 4-(anilinomethyl)imidazoles and 4-(phenoxymethyl)imidazoles are agonists of the cloned human alpha(1)-adrenoceptors in vitro, and potent, selective alpha(1A)-adrenoceptor agonists have been identified in this series. These imidazoles demonstrate similar potencies and alpha(1)-subtype selectivities as the corresponding 2-substituted imidazolines.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA series of 2'-alkylthio-2-(anilinomethyl)imidazolines were prepared to examine the effect of the alkyl group size, sulfur oxidation state, and phenyl ring substitution on ligand binding and agonism of alpha-adrenergic receptor subtypes alpha1a, alpha1b, alpha1d, alpha2a, and alpha2c. Binding at all receptor subtypes decreased for compounds in the sulfone oxidation state as compared to their sulfide analogues. While sulfides were generally potent, nonselective agonists, sulfones exhibited alpha1a subtype selectivity in a cell-based functional assay.
