In PDAC patients, ctDNA detection's prognostic significance needs validation especially in resected patients. This study investigated ctDNA kinetics in portal and peripheral blood before and after resection, and whether tissue mobilization during surgery influences ctDNA detection. In this single-center prospective cohort, portal and peripheral blood were drawn during pancreaticoduodenectomy before and after tissue mobilization, during 12 postoperative months and were associated with overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS) and CA19-9 (secondary endpoints).

Article Synopsis
  • Transarterial chemoembolization is the main treatment for liver cancer patients on transplant waiting lists, and this study aims to link treatment responses seen on imaging to actual tumor histology and their effects on survival outcomes.
  • A review of 70 patients showed that about one-third had a complete radiological response after treatment, but there was only a moderate agreement between imaging results and tumor necrosis.
  • The findings indicate that while a complete response on imaging is correlated with better overall and recurrence-free survival rates, the predictive accuracy of imaging assessments is relatively low.

Background: In the event of symptomatic common bile duct (CBD) stones with dilated CBD, one possible curative treatment option is stone extraction through choledocotomy associated with cholecystectomy. Endoscopic treatment is only reserved for residual stones at 6 weeks. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results from laparoscopic curative surgical treatment of CBD stones with dilated CBD.
