Introduction: Little is known about the factors associated with care-resistant behavior in community-dwelling persons living with dementia.

Methods: Regression modeling was performed on 41,143 responses to a standardized questionnaire from the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center's Uniform Data Set.

Results: In the fully adjusted mixed-effects regression model, collinearity was low, with no variance inflation factor above 1.

Background: There is a significant association between low vitamin D levels at diagnosis of indolent B-cell lymphomas and inferior overall survival (OS). To determine whether supplemental vitamin D improves event-free survival (EFS) in these patients, we conducted a comparative double-blind study of vitamin D vs. placebo.

Community Engagement Studios to advance multi-site research with older adults.

Introduction: Operationalizing multi-site Community Engagement (CE) Studios to inform a research program is valuable for researchers. We describe the process and outcomes of hosting three CE Studios with Community Experts aged 65 years or older with chronic conditions and care partners of older adults. Experts gave feedback about processes for testing the feasibility, efficacy, effectiveness, and implementation of audio recording clinic visits and sharing recordings with patients who have multimorbidity and their care partners.

Decision-Making Interventions for Pelvic Organ Prolapse: A Systematic Review, Meta-Analysis, and Environmental Scan.

People diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) face preference-sensitive treatment decisions. We conducted a systematic review, meta-analysis, and narrative synthesis to determine the effect of decision-making interventions for prolapse on patient-reported outcomes. To gain a more complete understanding of all potentially accessed resources, we also conducted an environmental scan to determine the quantity and quality of online interventions for prolapse decision-making.

The feasibility of sharing digital audio-recordings of clinic visits online with older adults in primary care settings: A multisite trial.

Objective: The objective of this trial was to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness of sharing audio recordings of primary care visits with older adults with multimorbidity.

Methods: We used a two-arm, randomized, controlled, feasibility trial with 3-month follow-up. Patients aged ≥ 65 years-with diabetes and hypertension-were recruited from academic primary care settings in New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Texas.

Introduction: AI is big and moving fast into healthcare, creating opportunities and risks. However, current approaches to governance focus on high-level principles rather than tailored recommendations for specific domains like consumer health. This gap risks unintended consequences from generic guidelines misapplied across contexts and from providing answers before agreeing on the questions.

The Feasibility and Acceptability of Sharing Video Recordings of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Clinical Encounters With Patients and Their Caregivers: Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial.

Background: Multidisciplinary clinics (MDCs) provide benefits to patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and their caregivers, but MDC visits are information-heavy and can last 4 hours, with patients and caregivers meeting with multiple specialists within each MDC visit. There are questions about the effectiveness of current methods of sharing information from MDCs with patients. Video recordings are a promising new method of sharing information that may allow patients and caregivers to revisit the MDC and remind them of clinical recommendations and conversations.

There is an appreciable mental health treatment gap in the United States. Efforts to bridge this gap and improve resource accessibility have led to the provision of online, clinically-validated tools for mental health self-assessment. In theory, these screens serve as an invaluable component of information-seeking, representing the preparative and action-oriented stages of this process while altering or reinforcing the search content and language of individuals as they engage with information online.

Communicating visit information to family caregivers: How does method matter? A national survey.

Objectives: The clinic visit is a critical point of contact for family caregivers. However, only 37% of family caregivers are able to accompany patients to visits. When they cannot attend, caregivers receive visit information to assist with their caregiving.

Follow-up from the A041202 study shows continued efficacy of ibrutinib regimens for older adults with CLL.

A041202 (NCT01886872) is a phase 3 study comparing bendamustine plus rituximab (BR) with ibrutinib and the combination of ibrutinib plus rituximab (IR) in previously untreated older patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The initial results showed that ibrutinib-containing regimens had superior progression-free survival (PFS) and rituximab did not add additional benefits. Here we present an updated analysis.

Many patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) will develop treatment resistance to Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors. Phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitors, including umbralisib, have significant clinical activity in relapsed/refractory CLL, but prolonged exposure is associated with potential toxicities. Owing to the synergistic antitumor effects of combined PI3K and BCL-2 inhibition, we sought to explore the feasibility of response-adapted, time-limited therapy to optimize disease control while mitigating the risks of prolonged treatment.

Outcomes of limited stage primary bone diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in the rituximab era: a multicenter, retrospective study.

Primary bone diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is a rare variant of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma historically treated with induction chemotherapy followed by consolidative radiation therapy (RT). It remains unknown whether RT confers additional benefit following rituximab-based chemoimmunotherapy (CIT) induction in patients with limited stage disease. We conducted a multicenter, retrospective analysis of patients treated between 2005 and 2019 using rituximab-based CIT regimens with or without consolidative RT to discern whether consolidative RT adds benefit in patients with stage I-II disease that could be encompassed in one radiation field.

Nivolumab combined with brentuximab vedotin for R/R primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma: a 3-year follow-up.

Patients with relapsed/refractory primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (R/R PMBL) have poor responses to salvage therapy. Nivolumab and brentuximab vedotin (BV) showed promising early efficacy in patients with R/R PMBL in the phase 1/2 open-label, multicenter CheckMate 436 study; we report safety and efficacy findings from the 3-year follow-up. Patients who were eligible were aged ≥15 years with R/R PMBL previously treated with either high-dose chemotherapy plus autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) or ≥2 prior multiagent chemotherapies, and had Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status scores of 0 to 1 and CD30 expression of ≥1%.
