Background: Molecular epidemiology has shown the presence of four genotypes circulating across Africa, a paucity of data exists regarding phylogeography of the African Yellow fever (YF) genotypes. The need to fill this gap with spatiotemporal data from continuous YF outbreaks in Africa conceptualized this study; which aims to investigate the most recent transmission events and directional spread of yellow fever virus (YFV) using updated genomic sequence data.

Methods: Yellow fever sequence data was utilized along with epidemiologic data from outbreaks in Africa, to analyze the case/fatality distribution and genetic diversity.

The present study aimed to provide a detailed characterization of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) isolated from cows and buffaloes with mastitis. The study included seventy-five CoNS isolates (60 came from cattle and 15 from buffaloes) originating from 68 individual quarters of 67 dairy cows (53 cattle and 14 buffaloes). The aim of the study was to comparatively analyze the interrelationships among iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr) and total hydrocarbons (THCs) in the gills, intestines and muscles of Clarias gariepinus collected from Osse River, Nigeria, between the periods of April, 2013 to September, 2014. The trace metals in the fish tissues were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS, Philips model PU 9100), while total hydrocarbons were analyzed using High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC,Prominence Dual brand from HGE) equipped with a detector Shimadzu UV-Visible (UV-Vis Prominence SPD 20 A). The concentrations of trace metals and THCs in the tissues were subjected to principal component analysis (PCA), in conjunction with hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), backed up by correlation analysis (CA).
