One size does not fit all: the multifaceted impact of COVID-19 on graduate-level behavioral health professions students.

Better understanding how behavioral health professions students were impacted by COVID-19 can help educators inform their education practices. The present study examined the impact of COVID-19 among  = 83 students enrolled in two universities across five graduate-level behavioral health training programs - clinical mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychiatric nursing, and social work. Participants completed the Epidemic-Pandemic Impacts Inventory (EPII), and descriptive statistics were examined.

Challenges and potential solutions to enrollment in a clinical trial of arteriovenous fistula vs arteriovenous graft vascular access strategy.

This article presents the rationale, challenges, and adaptive strategies employed during the initiation and execution of the arteriovenous (AV) access trial-a multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing AV fistulas and AV grafts for hemodialysis in older adults with major comorbidities. Motivated by shifts in epidemiologic landscapes and evolving guidelines moving away from a fistula-first approach and to more patient-centric approaches, the objective of this randomized controlled trial was to fill critical knowledge gaps in determining the optimal vascular access for this complex patient population. We outline the challenges encountered in patient recruitment along with measures employed to overcome these obstacles in recruitment.

Analysis of Ohio Nurses' Voting Behaviors 2020-2023.

This study provides baseline data for voting patterns and the political affiliation of licensed nurses (licensed practical nurses [LPNs], registered nurses [RNs], and advanced practice registered nurses [APRNs]) in Ohio for the November 2020, 2022, and 2023 general elections. Using two public databases (licensed nurses and registered voters), the findings for 73.7% of all licensed nurses registered to vote are reported, including 18,894 APRNs, 30,731 LPNs, and 137,353 RNs.

A novel opioid/pramipexole combination treatment for the management of acute pain: a pilot study.

Purpose: Despite their dangerous side effects, opioid drugs remain a standard of care for moderate to severe pain with few alternatives. Strategies to maintain the analgesic effects of opioids while minimizing the associated risks are needed. Using virtual simulation to teach substance use screening and brief intervention skills across the health professions: Examining training outcomes among an interprofessional graduate student sample.

Background: The benefits of utilizing virtual simulation in substance use disorder (SUD) training are emerging in the literature. However, a clear understanding of how behavioral health graduate trainees experience virtual simulation as part of an interprofessional SUD training is still needed.

Method: Graduate-level health professions students ( = 69) from four different behavioral health disciplines completed an interprofessional training program, including completion of two virtual simulations, that addressed SUD screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) and teamwork topics using an interprofessional lens.

Civic knowledge and self-reported political astuteness of academic nurse educators in the United States.

Background: A nurse's perspective is unique and invaluable to health policy. Although political astuteness is essential for nurses and nurse educators to be effective participants in health policy, there is a gap in the nursing literature on civic knowledge and its potential relationship to political astuteness.

Purpose: This research aimed to assess the civic knowledge and self-reported political astuteness of academic nurse educators, their associated factors, and the relationship between these two concepts.

Introduction: The proliferation of alcohol outlets has led to increased physical availability of alcohol, harmful alcohol consumption and related harm in Nigeria. This study explored alcohol licensing legislations and licensing systems across local government councils (LGC) in South-West, Nigeria.

Introduction: Increasing the substance use workforce is vital in addressing the many complexities of opioid use among families. The purpose of the present research was to examine 6-month outcomes of a training program focusing on opioid use among families, for master-level family therapy (MFT) and community mental health counseling (CMHC) students.
