Our systematic review and meta-analysis of 40 studies ( = 3,905,559) identified gastric acid suppressants, recent hospitalization, antibiotic exposure, and certain comorbidities as independent predictors of healthcare-associated infection (HA-CDI) among adult inpatients. Targeted antibiotic stewardship and judicious use of gastric acid suppressants can reduce the incidence of HA-CDI.

Prolonged postoperative opioid use, defined as the presence of a filled opioid prescription between 90 and 180 days following the operative amputation procedure, affects nearly 50% of amputees. Moreover, the use of preoperative benzodiazepines, muscle relaxants, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants is strongly linked to prolonged opioid use suggesting new therapeutic strategies are needed.

Historians and archaeologists have been debating the scale of animal husbandry in ancient Greece for decades. This study contributes to the debate by examining Classical and Hellenistic faunal assemblages from Magoula Plataniotki, New Halos, and Pherae through non-destructive zooarchaeological methods and a multi-isotopic (87Sr/86Sr, δ13C, and δ18O) approach. Zooarchaeological data suggest that small-scale sedentary animal husbandry focused on caprine production in Magoula Plataniotiki and New Halos, and small-scale and semi-specialised animal husbandry was practised in Pherae.

Methods: The NYS HIV registry was used to identify people who received a CDX from 2016 to 2021.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in the number of deaths among all populations, including people with diagnosed HIV (PWDH). The aim of this study was to analyze the top causes of death (COD) among PWDH before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and a year later; to determine changes in the leading COD among PWDH; and to determine whether the historical trend of decreasing deaths related to HIV continued through the pandemic.
Methods: To examine mortality among PWDH in New York State (NYS), records for PWDH who died from 2015 to 2021 were extracted from the NYS HIV registry and Vital Statistics Death Data.
