This study examines resistance inheritance to the pyrethroid insecticides esfenvalerate and deltamethrin in a Puerto Rican strain of fall armyworm (FAW), , a major global pest of corn. The resistant strain (PPR) showed significantly higher resistance compared to a susceptible strain (SUS), with a 62-fold X-linked and 15-fold autosomal-linked resistance ratio (RR) for esfenvalerate and deltamethrin, respectively. Resistance was incompletely dominant for both insecticides.

Vessel strikes are a critical threat to endangered North Atlantic right whales (Eubalaena glacialis), significantly contributing to their elevated mortality. Accurate estimates of these mortality rates are essential for developing effective management strategies to aid in the species' recovery. Purpose: Although it is well known that photoreceptor damage and color vision loss occur in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR), the relationship between structural and functional changes in diabetes mellitus (DM) remains unclear. Using highly sensitive measures of photoreceptor structure and function, we aim to determine whether early loss of color sensitivity in DM is also accompanied by decreased cone density.

The ECHELON-1 trial demonstrated the effectiveness of brentuximab vedotin (BV) in combination with doxorubicin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine as a frontline treatment regimen in classical Hodgkin lymphoma. Parasitic nematodes have an intimate, chronic and lifelong exposure to vertebrate tissues. Here we mined 41 published parasitic nematode transcriptomes from vertebrate hosts and identified 91 RNA viruses across 13 virus orders from 24 families in ~70% (28 out of 41) of parasitic nematode species, which include only 5 previously reported viruses. We observe widespread distribution of virus-nematode associations across multiple continents, suggesting an ancestral acquisition event and host-virus co-evolution.

Metabolic homeostasis within cells and tissues requires engagement of catabolic and anabolic pathways consuming nutrients needed to generate energy to drive these and other subcellular processes. However, the current understanding of cell homeostasis and metabolism, including how cells utilize nutrients, comes largely from tissue and cell models analyzed after fractionation. These bulk strategies do not reveal the spatial characteristics of cell metabolism at the single cell level, and how these aspects relate to the location of cells and organelles within the complexity of the tissue they reside within.
