  • Metabolic syndrome, which includes issues like obesity, high blood pressure, and insulin resistance, significantly raises cardiovascular risks in older adults.
  • A study analyzed data from 786 patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and found that age didn't significantly affect the outcomes like weight loss or improvements in lipid profiles over two years.
  • Both younger (under 50) and older (over 50) patients experienced similar success rates in controlling diabetes and hypertension after surgery, indicating that LSG is a suitable treatment option for age-related obesity-related health problems.
