Thus, we used PSG data to examine the: 1) association between OSA, and its severity, with IIH and 2) sex differences in OSA severity in those with and without IIH.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed diagnostic PSG data from January 2015 to August 2023 for patients who were diagnosed with IIH by a neuro-ophthalmologist using the modified Dandy criteria.

Study Objectives: To objectively characterize (1) the relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and sleep quality, and (2) the influence of sleep position on this relationship, using in-laboratory polysomnography.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed first-night diagnostic in-laboratory polysomnography data for 3411 patients (median age 55 years; 48% male). Medication use and medical condition data were obtained through self-reported questionnaires.
Alterations in thalamic GABAergic signaling are implicated in mediating the rise in 12-30 Hz electroencephalogram (EEG) activity that signals anesthetic-induced loss-of-consciousness with GABA receptor-targeting general anesthetics. A number of modeling studies have identified that anesthetic-induced alterations in thalamocortico-corticothalamic signaling in the same network that generates sleep spindles would be sufficient to elicit this key EEG signature of anesthetic hypnosis with general anesthetic agents. Accordingly, we hypothesize that targeted stimulation of this thalamic GABAergic circuitry into a sleep-spindle mode of activity would promote the general anesthetic effects of etomidate.
