A royal decree in 1788 created a Health Board for military hospitals. The board members included Bayen, assisted by Pagmentier. A collection of "Medicinal formulae" was then published with a view to standardizing and simplifying the remedies prepared in pharmacies.

The use by the apotharies of the symbol of three reigns of nature: the snake, the palm-tree and the rocks, together with the motto "In his tribus versantur" was fort them away to illustrate their scope of competence. This symbol cannot be seen on many delft-wan, but it illustrates many China-vases, made of "porcelaine de Paris" during the XIXth century. Palm-tree, snake and rocks constitute the main kind of adornment on the pots made by the various manufacturers.
