Understanding the uterine source of the electrophysiological activity of contractions during pregnancy is of scientific interest and potential clinical applications. In this work, we propose a method to estimate uterine source currents from magnetomyography (MMG) temporal course measurements on the abdominal surface. In particular, we develop a linear forward model, based on the quasistatic Maxwell's equations and a realistic four-compartment volume conductor, relating the magnetic fields to the source currents on the uterine surface through a lead-field matrix.

Our patient is a 44-year-old woman who underwent exploratory laparotomy with total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy by gynecologic oncology for a suspected malignancy. The diagnosis of intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) was made instead. We propose a single channel two-stage time-segment discriminator of uterine magnetomyogram (MMG) contractions during pregnancy. We assume that the preprocessed signals are piecewise stationary having distribution in a common family with a fixed number of parameters. Therefore, at the first stage, we propose a model-based segmentation procedure, which detects multiple change-points in the parameters of a piecewise constant time-varying autoregressive model using a robust formulation of the Schwarz information criterion (SIC) and a binary search approach.

We report the endovascular management of a patient with a type B aortic dissection complicated by renal ischemia and resultant severe hypertension. A 69-year-old male presented with acute type B aortic dissection with proximal extension complicated by severe renovascular hypertension secondary to left renal ischemia. Endovascular management consisted of imaging with intravascular ultrasound and left renal artery stenting with balloon-expandable stents.
