The objectives of this study were to validate diagnostic tests to detect polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs) in bull semen, and to determine the prevalence of leucospermia in beef bulls with varying semen quality. We hypothesized that all tests have comparable diagnostic value, and that leucospermia is more prevalent in unsatisfactory breeders in association with poor semen quality. For the analytical validation, one ejaculate was obtained from five bulls.

Methodology: The minimum inhibitory and bactericidal concentrations (MIC and MBC) and the antibiofilm activities (TTC assay) of DAP and its components (ciprofloxacin and metronidazole) were evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis compared with triple antibiotic paste (TAP). The cellular viability of RAW 264.
Regenerative therapies such as dental pulpal revascularization appear as an option for traumatized immature permanent teeth. However, the triple antibiotic paste - TAP (metronidazole, minocycline, and ciprofloxacin), used for these therapies, can generate cytotoxicity and dentin discoloration. In contrast, host defense peptides (HDPs) are promising antimicrobial and immunomodulatory biomolecules for dentistry.

Among twenty-three heat-processed Brazilian food samples, melanoidins contents ranged from 1.6 (dulce de leche) to 21.

However, several complications can be observed during the postoperative period. Positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) improves gas exchange, but it might be related to decreased cardiac output and possible impairment of tissue oxygenation.

Our aim was to determine if predictive equations for estimated REE accurately reflect the requirements of AKI patients.
Methods: We included in this prospective and observational study AKI patients AKIN-3 assessed by indirect calorimetry (IC).
Objectives: Patients with chronic kidney disease present a higher degree of left ventricular hypertrophy than expected for hypertension levels. In chronic kidney disease the plot between the quotient extracellular water/total body water and aldosterone is shifted up and to the right. There are few studies that verified the role of aldosterone in cardiac remodeling in this set of patients.

In nondialytic chronic kidney disease, spironolactone was safe and effective in reducing left ventricular hypertrophy. However, routine use has been precluded in hemodialysis patients due to the risk of hyperkalemia.
