Crohn's disease is a chronic granulomatous disorder that may involve any segment of the gastrointestinal tract. Extraintestinal manifestations of Crohn's disease such as erythema nodosum and pyoderma gangrenosum are well recognized and appreciated. However, metastatic Crohn's disease (MCD), defined as the same granulomatous inflammation seen in Crohn's disease but at a skin site distant to the gastrointestinal tract, is less well recognized.

We sought to examine the impact of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection on mucosal as well as peripheral blood gammadelta T-cell populations. Our results demonstrate that HIV-1 infection is associated with significant expansion of Vdelta1 and contraction of Vdelta2 cell populations in both the mucosa and peripheral blood.

The effects of the secondary polymer component (P(2)) on poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)/P(2) alloy membrane structure and performance were systematically investigated. A series of P(2) with varying compatibility with PVC used in this study included vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer (VC-co-VAc); copolymer of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate-maleic anhydride copolymer (VC-co-VAc-co-MAL); isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer (IB-co-MAL); poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA); poly(vinylidene dichloride) (PVDC); and styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN). Alloy membranes were prepared by means of solution blending-phase inversion technique.
