Primary malignant melanoma of the esophagus (PMME) is a rare malignancy typically associated with poor prognosis, particularly in elderly patients. Here, we present the case of an 85-year-old female patient with a three-month history of progressive dysphagia and heartburn-related epigastric pain. Endoscopy revealed a polypoid esophageal lesion, confirmed as melanoma via biopsy with positive immunohistochemical staining for Melan-A and SOX-10.

Linezolid plays a clinically important role; however, it is responsible for severe pharmacological interactions and side effects, such as myelosuppression, serotonin syndrome, and lactic acidosis. We report a case of an 80-year-old man treated with venlafaxine for depression. He was admitted with a right femur fracture and submitted to surgical intervention, complicated by local infection.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare hematologic neoplasm with a myeloid origin, which can affect numerous organs, the skin being the second most frequently affected by this disease. In this report, a case of a 44-year-old female, who was intermittently followed due to a suspected persistent cutaneous candidiasis in which a skin biopsy revealed Langerhans cell histiocytosis with immunohistochemistry positive for CD1a and S100 protein, is described. The management of Langerhans cell histiocytosis is difficult because these disorders respond inconsistently to immunosuppressive and chemotherapeutic strategies.
