Background And Aims: During the last two decades important advances have been made regarding the knowledge of immunomediated neuropathies, which entitled them to evolve from a theoretical existence to subtype differentiation. Nevertheless, questions regarding antigen topography or antibody's pathogenicity still need to be answer. Moreover, antibody typification is not necessarily available during clinical practice and usually diagnostic decisions or follow-up are done without it.

The effects of long-term exposure to disease-modifying drugs during pregnancy in multiple sclerosis.

Background And Objective: Women with multiple sclerosis (MS) who intend to get pregnant are often advised to discontinue disease modifying therapy (DMT) prior to conception. This recommendation is not based on medical evidence and may interfere with disease control by immunomodulatory drugs. The present study was designed to help discuss the effect of DMT for MS on pregnancy and on disease course.

Otolaryngology and speech therapy evaluation in the assessment of oropharyngeal dysphagia: a combined protocol proposal.

Comparison between videofluoroscopy and endoscopic evaluation of swallowing for the diagnosis of dysphagia in children.

Objective: To compare videofluoroscopy swallowing study (VFSS) with the fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) in children and to determine the accuracy of FEES in the diagnosis of specific swallowing disorders.

Study Design: Cross-sectional study.

A 13 year old female patient, being followed at the Rheumatologic Department, was referred to the Otolaryngology Department of the University of São Paulo School of Medicine Hospital. Multiple-sited amyloidosis in the upper aerodigestive tract: case report and literature review.

There are some reports of localized amyloidosis in the larynx, an entity that corresponds to one percent of all benign tumors of this region. However, there are only two cases of amyloidosis in the Waldeyer's ring 6, 13, 14. We hereby describe a rare case of amyloidosis in areas not associated with the upper aero-digestive tract: tonsil pillar, rhinopharynx, supraglottis and glottis, without visible continuity of amyloid tissue.

Selection of Beauveria bassiana isolates to control Alphitobius diaperinus.

This paper presents results on isolates of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana for Alphitobius diaperinus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) control. Bilateral olivary hypertrophy after unilateral cerebellar infarction.

We describe a case of bilateral olivary hypertrophy and palatal tremor after unilateral cerebellar infarction. Hypertrophic olivary degeneration (HOD) is associated with hypersignal in the inferior olivary nucleus (ION), on T2-weighted images. HOD has been more often observed ipsilaterally to a central tegmentum tract lesion or contralaterally to a dentate nucleus or a superior cerebellar peduncle lesion.
