Nurses experience stress in the workplace. We evaluated the feasibility and effect of Reiki to relieve stress of staff nurses during a work shift. All Reiki treatments were completed without interruption and lasted 30 minutes.

Background: Gaps in care coordination (CC) between inpatient and outpatient settings for children with medical complexity (CMC) can result in treatment delays, gaps in communication, missed appointments, medication discrepancies, and ultimately impacts the provision of quality care.

Local Problem: As care for pediatric patients with medical complexity moves into community settings, various ambulatory settings, including infusion settings, are caring for patients who would otherwise often require inpatient hospitalization to receive their care. To better accommodate this growing demand, nurse practitioners (NPs) have been used to support these nurse-led infusion programs.

Background: Documentation of the benefits of leukoreduction has led to the increased use of this technique and the need for development of efficient and effective techniques for its accomplishment. This study investigated the in vitro properties and in vivo autologous radiolabeled recovery of leukoreduced red cells (RBCs) produced through a leukoreduction filtration system for RBCs (LEUKOSEP HRC-600-C, Hemerus Medical).

Study Design And Methods: Normal subjects donated 36 units of RBCs that were leukoreduced on Days 0, 3, or 5 through a "hands-off" technique.
