Nursing professional development practitioners are frequently asked about program return on investment. A pre-postprogram self-assessment was developed for a Nurse Manager Certificate Program using the American Nurses Credentialing Center Nurse Executive Certification blueprint. The results identified knowledge and skill gaps, defined program outcomes, and helped determine return on investment.

Objective: Inadequate primary health care and screening have been identified as serious issues for people with disabilities, but little evidence exists on the nursing care of this population when hospitalized. This study sought to explore the experiences of people with disabilities in their interactions with nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel and their perceptions of the care they received during hospital stays.

Methods: In this descriptive qualitative study, 35 people with disabilities were interviewed in focus groups, and audio recordings of the interviews were transcribed and validated for accuracy.

Leader as communicator.

This article examines common communication factors that have an impact on leader effectiveness (language, listening, mode of delivery, and feedback) and the role of the organization, organizational culture, and group dynamics in the development of the leader as a communicator. Communication, like any skill, is a learned behavior that is honed over time. Communication is a two-way process with stimulus-response shaping future behavior.
