Anti-Stigma HIV-Related Social Advertising: No Evidence for Side Effects on Condom Use.

Recent campaigns try to reduce social stigma associated with persons living with HIV. For example, a German campaign raised awareness that infection is unlikely in low-risk day-to-day interactions. Research has yet to show that there are no harmful side effects.

Hyperthyroidism due to secretion of human chorionic gonadotropin in a patient with metastatic choriocarcinoma.

A 26-year-old pregnant woman presenting with repeated episodes of vaginal bleeding, weight loss, and shortness of breath was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma with metastases to both lungs. Chorionic gonadotropin levels (hCG) were >2.5 x 10(6)mU/mL.

Parkinson's disease and thyroid dysfunction.

Background: Although no causal linkage between hypothyroidism and Parkinson's disease (PD) has been demonstrated so far, both share common manifestations and coexistence can be a source of diagnostic delay and confusion.

Purpose: To assess thyroid function in patients with PD.

Scope: Ninety-five PD patients and 102 age-matched controls were assessed for hypothyroidism through clinical evaluation and laboratory screening.
