Objective: To verify the effects of replacing exercises targeted on core/hip muscles by exercises targeted on leg/foot muscles in a rehabilitation program for patellofemoral pain (PFP).
Design: Randomized Controlled Trial.
Participants: Fifty women with PFP.
Background: Porphyromonas gingivalis lipid A heterogeneity modulates cytokine expression in human cells. This study investigates the effects of two lipid A isoforms of P. gingivalis, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)1435/1449 and LPS1690, on the secretion of proinflammatory and regulatory cytokines in total blood cultures from patients with and without chronic periodontitis (CP).

The enterococci are important nosocomial pathogens with a remarkable capacity of expressing resistance to several antimicrobial agents. Their ubiquitous nature and resistance to adverse environmental conditions take account for their ability to colonize different habitats and for their potential for easy spreading through the food chain. In the present study we evaluated the distribution of species and antimicrobial susceptibility among enterococcal isolates recovered from food obtained in retail stores in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Experimental studies have used otomicroscopy or histology to evaluate myringosclerosis in animals, but they do not correlate precisely these two methods.
Aim: The present study evaluates the accuracy of otomicroscopy in the diagnosis of myringosclerosis in rats.
Background And Objectives: General anesthesia and mental function have been subject to studies and considerations, especially for the feeling that, especially in the elderly, it could induce changes in cognition and memory. This study aimed at evaluating the effects of general anesthesia in cognition and memory of elderly patients, correlating them to gender, age and anesthesia duration.
Methods: This is a cohort, controlled study with patients divided in two observation groups: a - anesthetic; b - clinical (control).
