Deep lipomas, especially in the head and neck region, are uncommon. This report describes the case of a patient with a large intermuscular lipoma of the submandibular space, which had been present for 10 years and was diagnosed by computed tomography. The clinical, imaging, and histopathological features, as well as the management of the tumor, are described.

The bone-biomaterial interface has been characterized by layers of afibrillar extracellular matrix (ECM) enriched in non collagenous proteins, including osteopontin (OPN), a multifunctional protein that in bone controls cell adhesion and ECM mineralization. Physical and chemical aspects of biomaterial surfaces have been demonstrated to affect cell-ECM-substrate interactions. The present paper described the ability of oxidative nanopatterning of titanium (Ti) surfaces to control extracellular OPN deposition in vitro.

Purpose: This study aims to review anatomical, clinical, and pathological concepts as well as to discuss the most adequate therapeutic approach to the mucoceles of the glands of Blandin-Nuhn.

Discussion: The glands of Blandin-Nuhn are localized in the ventral part of the tongue, next to the apex in the lingual median plane. Development of a mucocele in this site is rarely seen; besides, as the glands of Blandin-Nuhn are not encapsulated and are directly overlapped to the muscle tissues, their manipulation tends to be different from the other oral mucoceles.

The objective of the present study was to develop a simplified and low-cost protocol for the investigation of congenital anomalies of chromosomal etiology by fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) using probes for chromosomes X, 18, 13/21 in liver cell touch preparations obtained from autopsies performed at the University Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto. Liver touch preparations were obtained from 11 autopsy cases and fixed in 95% ethanol or methanol:acetic acid (3:1). The FISH technique was carried out according to the protocol of Pinkel with modifications, using probes for chromosomes X, 18, 13/21.
