We present the conceptual study investigated the capacity of minichromosome maintenance-2 (MCM-2), Ki-67, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) to assess the severity and progression of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) disease and to study the correlations among these markers. A total of 30 patients with LSCC with immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining for MCM-2, Ki-67 and EGFR were examined. Objectives: To evaluate apoptotic levels of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and apoptotic regulatory proteins (Bax and Bcl-2) in lymphocyte subsets of oral cancer (OC) patients and healthy controls (HC).
Methodology: The percentage of apoptotic cells and lymphocyte counts were measured in the first cohort using PBMCs obtained from 23 OC patients and 6 HC. In the second cohort, (OC, 33; HC, 13), the mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of Bax and Bcl-2 in CD19+ B, CD4+ T, CD8+ T, and CD16+56+ natural killer (NK) cells was determined via flow cytometry.

To evaluate the effect in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), LINE-1 methylation levels and patterns have been measured both in vitro and in vivo.
Methods: Analysis of LINE-1 methylation in cocultured models between HNSCC cell lines and normal PBMCs was performed.
Objectives/hypothesis: To examine if macroscopic classification with a magnifying gastrointestinal endoscope with narrow band imaging (ME-NBI) is useful in predicting pathological depth of tumor invasion in laryngo-pharyngeal cancer.
Study Design: Retrospective study.
Methods: Preoperative endoscopy reports and postoperative pathological reports on 139 laryngo-pharyngeal cancer lesions were retrospectively reviewed, and the association between macroscopic findings in the lesions and the depth of tumor invasion was analyzed statistically.
