Purpose: The primary objective was to evaluate the impact of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) and spontaneous intestinal perforation (SIP) on mortality and neurodevelopmental outcomes at 2 years' corrected age (CA) in infants born before 32 weeks' gestation (WG).

Methods: We studied neurodevelopment at 2 years' CA of infants with NEC or SIP who were born before 32 WG from the EPIPAGE-2 cohort study. The primary outcome was death or the presence of moderate-to-severe motor or sensory disability defined by moderate-to-severe cerebral palsy or hearing or visual disability.

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a frequently encountered defect in infants born extremely premature (≤26 weeks' gestation). Historically, closure of the PDA was performed using cyclooxygenase inhibitor medications or by surgical ligations. Objective: To examine the effects of early echocardiography-targeted ibuprofen treatment of large patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) on survival without cerebral palsy at 24 months of corrected age.

Study Design: We enrolled infants born at <28 weeks of gestation with a large PDA on echocardiography at 6-12 hours after birth to ibuprofen or placebo by 12 hours of age in a multicenter, double blind, randomized-controlled trial. Objective: To describe survival rate after preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) before 25 weeks of gestation and compare neonatal morbidity and mortality among those born alive with a control group of infants born at a similar gestational age without premature rupture of membranes.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective single-centre study at Port-Royal maternity, from 2007 to 2015, comparing neonatal outcomes between liveborninfants exposed to PPROM prior to 25 weeks of gestation (WG) and a control group not exposed to premature rupture of the membranes. For each live-born child, the next child born after spontaneous labor without PPROM was matched for gestational age at birth, sex, and whether or not they received antenatal corticosteroid therapy.

Aim: We evaluated the impact of fetal growth restriction on neurodevelopmental outcomes at 2 years corrected age for infants born before 27 weeks gestational age.

Method: Data on infants born before 27 weeks gestational age between 1999 and 2008 (n=463), admitted to a tertiary neonatal unit in Paris, were used to compare neurological outcomes at 2 years for infants with birthweight lower than the 10th centile and birthweight of at least the 10th centile, using intrauterine reference curves. Outcomes were cerebral palsy (CP) and the Brunet-Lézine assessment of cognitive development, which provides age-corrected overall and domain-specific (global and fine motor skills, language and social interaction) developmental quotients.
