Background: Multidisciplinary cardiogenic shock (CS) programs have been associated with improved outcomes, yet practical guidance for developing a CS program is lacking.
Methods: A survey on CS program development and operational best practices was administered to 12 institutions in diverse sociogeographic regions and practice settings. Common steps in program development were identified.
Background: Pseudotumor cerebri (PTC) syndrome is a disorder of increased intracranial pressure, most commonly affecting overweight women of childbearing age. Malignant PTC (MPTC) is a rare presentation that involves rapidly worsening vision, often necessitating surgical intervention to prevent permanent vision loss. Macrocephaly, ventriculomegaly, and corpus callosal dysmorphism are typical neuroimaging features that have been described in the medical literature. Aim: We performed a study to identify the phenotypes of IBD in the Māori population.
Objectives: To examine randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of "hospital at home" (HAH) for admission avoidance in adults presenting with acute physical illness to identify the use of vital sign monitoring approaches and evidence for their effectiveness.
Design: Systematic review.
Setting And Participants: This review compared strategies for vital sign monitoring in admission avoidance HAH for adults presenting with acute physical illness.
Importance: The binary classification of spina bifida lesions as myelomeningocele (with sac) or myeloschisis (without sac) belies a spectrum of morphologies, which have not been correlated to clinical characteristics and outcomes.
Objective: To characterize spina bifida lesion types and correlate them with preoperative presentation and postoperative outcomes.
Design: Secondary analysis of images and videos obtained during fetoscopic spina bifida repair surgery from 2020-2023.
Human serum albumin (HSA) effectively binds to compounds having different molecular weight and thus facilitates their distribution in the living organisms. Thus, the binding interactions between a potential antibacterial drug (levofloxacin) and synthesized choline based levofloxacinate conjugates with HSA have been explored. Methods And Results: We enrolled three cohorts of patients: (1) patients with heart failure (HF) receiving intravenous diuretics in hospital; (2) patients established on haemodialysis, and (3) HF patients undergoing right heart catheterization (RHC). The primary outcomes in the respective cohorts were a Spearman correlation between (1) change in weight and change in thoracic impedance (TI) (from enrolment, 24 h after admission to discharge) in patients hospitalized for HF; (2) lung ultrasound B-lines and volume removed during dialysis with device measured TI, and (3) pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) and sub-acoustic diastolic, third heart sound (S3) in the patients undergoing RHC.

Background: Telehealth is a growing model of care, greatly accelerated with the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. Telecare is a synchronous audio-visual or audio-only format of health delivery.
Aims: To evaluate the existing literature on telecare within adult gastroenterology subspecialties to determine if outcomes are comparable to traditional in-person consultations and to highlight the Pokapū Network, a local initiative in the Lakes Region of New Zealand, amongst these international findings.
This study was conducted to explore the interaction between two plant-based antiplasmodial compounds, gartanin and friedelin, and bovine serum albumin (BSA). The objectives aimed to elucidate the binding characteristics, structural changes, and thermodynamic parameters associated with the interaction. We have evaluated the in vitro cytotoxicity for the synthesized compounds using three different cells lines, namely, HEK293 (normal kidney cell line), SW480, and HCT 116 (colon carcinoma cells). The solubility of APIs and Cho-API-ILs was evaluated in water/buffer solutions and was found higher for Cho-API-ILs.
