Study DesignRetrospective Cohort Study.ObjectiveLateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) is a treatment option for correcting lumbar degenerative pathologies that uses a retroperitoneal, transpsoas corridor to the disc space. Conventional teaching of the LLIF technique has been to perform the procedure 'as efficiently as possible', with a goal of keeping the total retractor time to less than 20 minutes to prevent injuries.

The aim of this international study across 7 transplant centers in USA and Australia was to identify factors associated with improved post-alloHCT survival. Of 134 TP53mut MN cases who underwent alloHCT, 80% harbored complex karyotype (CK); 94% of TP53 variants were localized to the DNA-binding domain (DBD).

Prior studies have shown associations of PDD with factors like race, housing, psychiatric illness, socioeconomic status, and intravenous drug use (IVDU). This study aims to identify factors contributing to PDD in hand infection patients at a public safety-net hospital and to investigate the long-term consequences through readmissions or returns to the emergency department (ED).

Methods: Patients who underwent pancreatic resection from January 2015 to December 2022 were reviewed. Patients were grouped based on disease-free survival of 1 year, disease-free survival of 6 months, overall survival of 1 year, and resectability.
Objective: To present a series of pediatric patients with cerebellopontine angle (CPA) lipomas in order to understand their natural history and facilitate management recommendations.
Patients: Pediatric patients with a diagnosis of CPA lipoma.
Interventions: Clinical data collected from a single tertiary care center between January 2000 and August 2022.
The marine ecosystem, the largest on Earth, supports around 80 % of plant and animal species. Marine macroalgae, rich in polysaccharides like cellulose, remain underutilized despite their potential in a circular bioeconomy. Efficient valorization can promote sustainability, whereas mismanagement raises ecological concerns.

Different treatment modalities such as chemotherapy, surgery, hormonal therapy and radiation therapy are employed for eliminating breast cancer, which are associated with many limitations. Therefore, considering the significance of metal nanoparticles in the biomedical sector, especially gold nanoparticles, in the current manuscript, we have designed and developed a combinatorial approach for synthesizing two types of gold (Au) nanoformulations (Au-Dex-MUA-Rapa, Au-Dex-MUA-Ola) using 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA), dexamethasone (Dex) (glucocorticoid receptor targeted molecule) along with rapamycin (Rapa: inhibitor of mTOR) or olaparib (Ola: inhibitor of PARP) against TNBC.

We demonstrate the assembly of DNA nanostructures at constant temperatures ranging from 4° to 50°C in solutions containing different counterions. The choice of counterions and the assembly temperature influence the isothermal assembly of several DNA motifs and designed three-dimensional DNA crystals.

Methods: In this report, we describe the case of an African American woman with CLE who had an ulcer on her posterior thigh. Despite this, initial biopsy specimen of the lesion revealed no evidence of CLE until a repeat biopsy 5 months later.
Background: The adaptive immune system consists of T and B lymphocytes, with some B lymphocytes further differentiating into plasma cells that secrete antibodies and make up the humoral immune system. Extramedullary plasmacytoma, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, and plasmablastic lymphoma are all plasma cell-rich lymphoid neoplasms that rarely present in the female genital tract. To date, few case reports of these malignancies arising within the uterine cervix exist.

In this study, we investigate polyclonal antibodies in serum and B cells from the whole blood of three donors with SARS-CoV-2 immunity to find high-affinity anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies to escape variants. Serum IgG antibodies were selected by their affinity to the receptor-binding domain (RBD) and non-RBD sites on the spike protein of Omicron subvariant B.

During drug development, drugs acting on dopaminergic receptors are often associated with a rat-specific endocrine tumor response, including changes in fertility, which are ascribed to DA-induced suppression of pituitary prolactin release. Although these effects are not observed in or relevant to humans, given species differences in the effects of prolactin on reproductive organs, modeling DA-mediated changes in prolactin and the reproductive system remains important for preclinical drug development.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of SI-6603 (condoliase) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL)-related outcomes in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH)-associated radicular leg pain from the Discovery 6603 study (NCT03607838).
Summary Of Background Data: Condoliase is a novel chemonucleolytic agent that selectively degrades chondroitin sulfate in the nucleus pulposus.
Sleep is a multidimensional modifiable lifestyle factor related to cancer risk. Prior research has primarily focused on sleep duration, despite the increasing importance of sleep timing and sleep regularity in the health research field. The objective of this systematic review was to synthesize the existing literature on the relationship of chronotype, sleep timing, and sleep regularity with cancer risk.

Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) platforms such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini have progressed at a rapid pace. To allow for optimal medical outcomes and patient safety, it is crucial that patients have clearly written post-operative instructions. Patients are increasingly turning to AI platforms for medical information.

Adenoidectomy is a common otolaryngologic procedure that may be performed with concomitant tonsillectomy (T&A). This study investigates differences between pediatric inpatients undergoing adenoidectomy alone and T&A. The 2016 Kid's Inpatient Database was used to identify pediatric patients undergoing adenoidectomy (ICD-10: 0CTQXZZ) with and without tonsillectomy (ICD-10: 0CTP, 0CBP).

Secondary spontaneous bacterial peritonitis prophylaxis (SecSBBPr) is associated with higher SBP recurrence but impact on non-SBP infections is unclear.
Methods: We studied patients with cirrhosis and SBP who were given SecSBPPr or not between 2009-2019 in two complementary national cohorts [Veterans affairs corporate data warehouse (VA-CDW) and non-VA TriNetX].

The hypothesis suggests that current videos are of low quality and limited usefulness to patients, highlighting significant disparities based on the credentials of the video source.
Methods: The phrase "acromioclavicular joint separation" was searched on YouTube.
Background: Myocardial injury is strongly associated with excess morbidity and mortality after noncardiac surgery. Higher heart rate may result in perioperative myocardial injury through demand-supply mismatch. Alternatively, higher heart rates may reflect autonomic dysfunction that promotes myocardial injury independently of heart rate.

TGH collaborated with GE HealthCare Command Center to build a command center (called CareComm) with real-time artificial intelligence (AI) applications, known as tiles, to dynamically streamline patient care operations and throughput. To facilitate patient flow for our neuroscience service line, we partnered with the GE HealthCare Command Center team to configure a Downgrade Readiness Tile (DRT) to expedite patient transfers out of the neuroscience intensive care unit (NSICU) and reduce their length of stay (LOS).

Background: We aimed to describe the real-world effectiveness and safety of upadacitinib (UPA), an oral Janus kinase 1 inhibitor (JAKi) in patients with Crohn's disease (CD).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted across nine centers in the United States, focusing on adults with CD treated with UPA 45 mg as induction therapy for active luminal disease. The co-primary endpoints were clinical remission at 12 weeks (Harvey Bradshaw Index ≤ 4 or absence of symptoms on physician's global assessment) and endoscopic remission at 6 months (SEMA-CD score of 0-1 or absence of ulcers).
