Purpose: To assess differences in safety and efficacy between 24 and 18 Fr pneumatic balloon dilators for percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) of renal stones between 10 and 20 mm.

Methods: Patients were randomized to dilatation with a 24 Fr (Group A) versus 18 Fr (Group B) Ultraxx pneumatic dilator (Cook Medical). In all procedures percutaneous puncture was performed under ultrasound guidance.

Yeast frataxin (Yfh1) is a small natural protein from yeast that has the unusual property of undergoing cold denaturation at temperatures above the freezing point of water when under conditions of low ionic strength. This peculiarity, together with remarkable resilience, allows the determination, for the whole protein as well as for individual residues, of the stability curve, that is the temperature dependence of the free energy difference between the unfolded and folded forms. The ease of measuring stability curves without the need to add denaturants or introduce destabilizing mutations makes this protein an ideal 'tool' for investigating the influence of many environmental factors on protein stability.

Sexual-Sparing Radical Cystectomy in the Robot-Assisted Era: A Review on Functional and Oncological Outcomes.

: Radical cystectomy (RC) is the standard treatment for muscle-invasive and high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, but it often results in significant functional impairments, including sexual and urinary dysfunction, adversely affecting quality of life (QoL). Sexual-sparing robotic-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) has been introduced to mitigate these effects. This review evaluates the oncological and functional outcomes of sexual-sparing RARC in male and female patients.

Alterations in Glutathione Redox Homeostasis in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease: A Systematic Review.

Low molecular weight (LMW) thiols, particularly glutathione, play pathogenic roles in various multiorgan diseases. The liver is central for the production and systemic distribution of LMW thiols; thus, it is particularly susceptible to the imbalance of redox status that may determine increased oxidative stress and trigger the liver damage observed in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) models and humans. Indeed, increased LMW thiols at the cellular and extracellular levels may be associated with the severity of MASLD.

The RNA-Binding Properties of Annexins.

Annexins are a family of calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding proteins involved in crucial cellular processes such as cell division, calcium signaling, vesicle trafficking, membrane repair, and apoptosis. Direct Detection of Bound Water in Hydrated Powders of Lysozyme by Differential Scanning Calorimetry.

While exploring the behavior of lysozyme powders at different percentages of rehydration by differential scanning calorimetry, we noticed a small peak persistently on the left of the melting point of bulk water, which, when heating up the system, was always around -10 °C. The intensity of the transition was maximal at 160% rehydration and disappeared at higher values. By comparing the premelting peak properties in HO and DO, we attributed it to freezable water bound on the protein surface.

A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in D^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}π^{0} decays using a pp collision data sample collected by the LHCb experiment in 2012 and from 2015 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.7  fb^{-1}, is presented. The initial flavor of each D^{0} candidate is determined from the charge of the pion produced in the D^{*}(2010)^{+}→D^{0}π^{+} decay.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate if and when the presence of radiological urinary leakages of vesico-urethral anastomosis, after robotic radical prostatectomy, could provoke urethral strictures or affect continence recovery.

Methods: We enrolled 216 patients, undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy between January 2020 and December 2022 in three high-volume referenced centres for robotic surgery. Before removal of the bladder catheter, all patients underwent a cystourethrography in which the presence/absence of leakage was assessed at level of vesico-urethral anastomosis.

Modification of χ_{c1}(3872) and ψ(2S) Production in pPb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV.

The LHCb Collaboration measures production of the exotic hadron χ_{c1}(3872) in proton-nucleus collisions for the first time. Comparison with the charmonium state ψ(2S) suggests that the exotic χ_{c1}(3872) experiences different dynamics in the nuclear medium than conventional hadrons, and comparison with data from proton-proton collisions indicates that the presence of the nucleus may modify χ_{c1}(3872) production rates. This is the first measurement of the nuclear modification factor of an exotic hadron.
