Hypopituitarism is the inability of the anterior pituitary gland to properly supply the hormone levels. When this disease affects all the hormones produced by the anterior pituitary, it is called panhypopituitarism (PHP). Since pituitary-derived hormones directly influence fertility, often the assisted reproduction techniques are the only option to PHP women have a full-term pregnancy.

Methods: Cross-sectional study, quantitative approach. The research sample comprised 89 women participating in the assisted reproduction program at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA) outpatient clinic.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of the NIS from 2015 to 2019 was performed including adult patients who underwent elective hernia repair.

For the first time, the 9% Ni steel is being used in CO injection units in floating production storage offloading vessels. Pipe joints welded with nickel-based superalloy 625 as the filler metal present difficulties in ultrasonic inspection owing to the sonic attenuation and deviation caused by the anisotropic and coarse-grained weld metal. This study aims to conduct a probability of detection (POD) to evaluate the discontinuity detection reliability in 9% Ni steel arc welded joints.

Monocyte-Derived Dendritic Cells Can Revert In Vitro Antigen-Specific Cellular Anergy in Active Human Paracoccidioidomycosis.

We investigated the in vitro effects of two antigens on monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs) from patients with paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM). MoDCs from patients with active or treated PCM and non-PCM subjects were generated, stimulated with TNF-α, and antigens, 43 kDa glycoprotein (gp43) and cell-free antigen (CFA), and analyzed by flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Our data revealed that patients with PCM had a high frequency of HLA-DR cells, but the treated group had more CD86 cells with increased IL-12p40.

In vitro antitumoral effects of the steroid ouabain on human thyroid papillary carcinoma cell lines.

Ouabain is a steroid described as a compound extracted from plants that is capable of binding to Na , K -ATPase, inhibiting ion transport and triggering cell signaling pathways. Due to its positive ionotropic effect, ouabain was used for more than 200 years for the treatment of cardiac dysfunctions. Numerous antitumor effects of ouabain have been described so far; however, its role on thyroid cancer is still poorly understood.

Urine proteomic analysis reveals alterations in heme/hemoglobin and aminopeptidase metabolism during Lonomia obliqua venom-induced acute kidney injury.

Aims: Accidental contact with the Lonomia obliqua caterpillar is a common event in southern Brazil. Envenomed victims present consumption coagulopathy, which can evolve to acute kidney injury (AKI). In the present study, we searched for AKI biomarkers and changes in molecular pathway signatures through urine proteomic analysis.

Introduction: Despite recent advances in assisted reproduction techniques and recent knowledge regarding embryo and endometrium quality, implantation and birth rates remain low. The objective of this study was to investigate whether clomiphene citrate alters endometrial maturation in infertile patients.

Methods: In a prospective self-matched cohort study, we assessed the ovulation of women in spontaneous and stimulated cycles (with clomiphene citrate).

We here propose to model active and cumulative cases data from COVID-19 by a continuous effective model based on a modified diffusion equation under Lifshitz scaling with a dynamic diffusion coefficient. The proposed model is rich enough to capture different aspects of a complex virus diffusion as humanity has been recently facing. The model being continuous it is bound to be solved analytically and/or numerically.

We present surveys of derbid planthoppers associated with coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) and oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) collected in Northeastern (Sergipe) and North (Pará and Roraima) Brazil.

Bacterial vaginosis, representation of endocervical and/or metaplastic cells, and cytological abnormalities in different age groups: Association study.

Background: Studies have indicated that bacterial vaginosis (BV) might be a cofactor for the acquisition and persistence of high-risk papillomavirus, enabling the development of cytological abnormalities. The presence of endocervical and metaplastic cells makes the smear more adequate for the detection of these abnormalities once these cell types are representative of the transformation zone, a site of increased susceptibility to viral infection.

Methods: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patterns of vaginal microbiota, the representation of endocervical and/or metaplastic cells, and the detection of cytological abnormalities in cervical smears from women 15 to 64 years old.
