Objective the purpose of the study the relationship between the gene polymorphism of vitamin D receptors (VDR) and biochemical markers of bone metabolism in the risk of osteoporosis in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) and hypertensive disease (HD). 110 patients with CP were examined, in which it proceeded against the background of HD in 70 cases, and in 40 cases it was isolated. The polymorphism of the VDR gene, the content of osteocalcin, total acid phosphatase (TAP), and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) were studied to determine the possible effect of these parameters on the course of the disease and the formation of complications.

An activation was found of lipid peroxidation system as well as suppression of antioxidant defence tending to be more profound in blood erythrocytes, in 47 patients with chronic cholecystitis having been in the zone of abnormal radiation. Correction of the above alterations revealed unithiol, clinical and biochemical effects to be pronounced compare with those or tocopherol. Direct antioxidant effect or unithiol, its capability of serving as an antidote of heavy of heavy metals are believed to account for the above observation.

The studies covered 35 subjects with chronic cholecystitis who had to work in radionuclide-contaminated territory. There appeared changes in examinees' lipid peroxidation and antioxidant defense systems. These were more pronounced in leukocytes, possibly due to direct action of radiation on cell membrane, and may contribute to disease chronicity and recurrences.

Reactivity of organism was studied in a total of 48 patients with chronic duodenitis, actually in the zone of increased radiation. Hypo- and normotensive type reactions were found to prevail, each having its peculiar clinical picture. While studying the lipid peroxidation- and antioxidant defence systems, changes were identified in those parameters characterizing the above systems, their degree being higher in blood leukocytes.

Results are reported of a study of the effect of benzohexonium electrophoresis on the epigastric area in cardiac syndrome due to chronic noncalculous cholecystitis in 72 patients. This treatment produced a favourable effect in reflex stenocardia as confirmed by data of clinical and paraclinical findings. The authors recommended to include benzohexonium electrophoresis in patients with the biliary cardiac syndrome in the complex treatment of patients with chronic cholecystitis.
