The IBIS-Q [IBd Identification of Spondyloarthritis Questionnaire]: A Novel Tool to Detect Both Axial and Peripheral Arthritis in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients.

Background And Aims: Both peripheral and axial spondyloarthritis [SpA] occur in inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] and represent the commonest extra-intestinal manifestation. We aimed to develop an easy and quick questionnaire through psychometric analysis, to identify peripheral and axial SpA in IBD patients within an integrated combined multidisciplinary rheumatological-gastroenterology clinic.

Methods: Initially, SpA-IBD experts generated a 42-item list covering SpA manifestations including spinal, articular, and entheseal involvement.

En Bloc Endoscopic Resection of Large Pedunculated Brunner's Gland Hamartoma: A Case Report.

Brunner's gland hamartoma (BGH) is an uncommon benign tumor arising from alkaline-based mucin-secreting glands of the duodenum. These lesions are typically discovered incidentally during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy or radiological diagnostics, even though they can eventually lead (in the case of increasing size) to obstructive or hemorrhagic symptoms. We report the case of a 67-year-old Caucasian man with two episodes of melena and epigastric pain during the last month.

Impact of alcohol consumption on winter sports-related injuries.

Introduction: This study was carried out to evaluate data about trauma-related winter sports, including risk factors such as high speed, gender, age, alcohol consumption, details about the accident and snow conditions.

Methods: A retrospective review was conducted to determine the injury patterns and crash circumstances in holiday skiers and snowboarders. The data recorded were obtained from the database of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Registry of six skiing areas in the Dolomite mountains during the winter seasons November 2004-May 2009, injury data for major traumas from Ski Patrol Injury reports (helicopter, ambulance or ski slopes' patrol reports), and intrahospital Emergency Department data.

[Sideropenic anemia and celiac disease].

Since the beginning of the use of Antigliadin Antibodies (AGA) in the screening of coeliac disease (CD) we have observed an increasing in the total number of cases diagnosed, in particular of the cases with monosymptomatic and atypical forms. Iron deficiency anemia is one of the more frequent findings that we can find in CD, either in association with other typical coeliac signs, or as an isolated expression of the disease. The first aim of our study was to determine the incidence of iron deficiency anemia in our patients affected by CD at the moment of diagnosis.

[Celiac disease in children with Down's syndrome].

The coexistence of Down's syndrome (DS) and coeliac disease (CD) has been occasionally reported and both diseases are often related to autoimmune disorders. The pathogenetic factor that links CD and DS may be an altered immune system and/or the presence of a common genetic factor. Some epidemiological investigations, performed in patients with CD, showed an increased incidence of DS compared to the natural incidence of this abnormality in the general population.

[Discordance in the onset of celiac disease in monozygotic twins].

Coeliac disease (CD) is a gluten intolerance caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors such as nutrition and infections. Monozygotic twins appear to have a concordance for CD up to 71%. This paper reports a third case of late onset of CD in monozygotic twin girls.
