Aims: Highly cross-linked polyethylene (HXLPE) greatly reduces wear in total hip arthroplasty, compared to conventional polyethylene (CPE). Cross-linking is commonly achieved by irradiation. This study aimed to compare the degree of cross-linking and in vitro wear rates across a cohort of retrieved and unused polyethylene cups/liners from various brands.

However, both platinum-based chemotherapy and pembrolizumab can lead to AKI. AKI can occur due to acute tubular necrosis or interstitial nephritis.

Thus, the purpose of the study is to evaluate how the introduction of a novel OAT approach influences these key factors in the management of OUD.
Case Presentation: This article marks the pioneering use of OAT through buprenorphine implant in Europe and delves into the experience of six patients diagnosed with OUD at a relatively young age.
In recent years, group equivariant non-expansive operators (GENEOs) have started to find applications in the fields of Topological Data Analysis and Machine Learning. In this paper we show how these operators can be of use also for the removal of impulsive noise and to increase the stability of TDA in the presence of noisy data. In particular, we prove that GENEOs can control the expected value of the perturbation of persistence diagrams caused by uniformly distributed impulsive noise, when data are represented by -Lipschitz functions from R to R.

(2) Methods: Incident cases of nrNSCLC recorded between 2009 and 2019 (cohort entry) in the pathology registry of the regional administrative healthcare database of Tuscany were identified. Records of antineoplastic therapies delivered up to 4 months following cohort entry were classified as chemotherapy, target therapies, immunotherapies, and undefined monoclonal antibodies.

We report the case of a patient with clinical and histopathologic findings consistent with the presence of discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) and localized scleroderma within the same lesions.

Objective: We sought to conduct a split-wound, prospective, randomized study to compare the cosmetic outcome and wound eversion achieved with the set-back suture and the buried vertical mattress suture (BVMS).
Methods: A total of 46 surgical elliptical wounds were randomized to subcuticular closure with the set-back suture on half and the BVMS on the other.
We evaluated the changes of the tumor markers CEA and CA19.9 as early predictors of progression in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients participating in a clinical study and receiving chemotherapy and bevacizumab (Bev). Seventy-two patients had high baseline CEA or CA19.

Methods: The authors evaluated 59 participants (34 with breast cancer and 25 with nonsmall-cell lung cancer). All of the participants received 4 milligrams of ZOL via intravenous (IV) infusion every four weeks and 15 mg per kilogram of BEV every three weeks.
Background: This randomised phase II study compared the activity and safety of the combination docetaxel (D)/epirubicin (EPI) with the conventional treatment D/prednisone (P) in advanced castrate-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients.
Materials And Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to D 30 mg m(-2) as intravenous infusion (i.v.
Background: The aim of this study was to assess the early effects of zoledronic acid (ZOL) and oral ibandronate (IBA) on the bone resorption marker s-CTX (serum C-telopeptide of collagen type I) and the bone formation marker B-ALP (bone-alkaline phosphatase) in patients with bone metastases from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: Fifty-five patients with at least one site of bone metastasis secondary to NSCLC were randomly assigned to receive intravenous ZOL 4 mg every 4 weeks, or oral IBA 50 mg/day.
Results: At 1 month of treatment, s-CTX was reduced by 54.
Lipedema is an underdiagnosed syndrome of unclear etiology, characterized by symmetric painful enlargement of the buttocks and lower extremities, which spares the feet. This enlargement is caused by the deposition of adipose tissue. It was first described by Allen and Hines in 1940, who observed that it had a female predilection; patients commonly had an associated family history.

We have designed a phase II trial to investigate the safety and antitumor activity of the newest metronomic chemo-hormonal-therapy with daily cyclophosphamide and twice daily megestrol acetate (mCM regimen) in patients with metastatic pretreated breast cancer.Twenty-nine pretreated post-menopausal patients with multiple metastatic sites were enrolled.

A secondary endpoint was to investigate the correlation between thymidylate synthase and thymidine phosphorylase (TP) expression in metastatic tissues and tumor response. Forty-one patients received oral capecitabine 1331 mg/m every day combined with intravenous oxaliplatin 85 mg/m every 2 weeks.

It usually occurs as a deep red or purple dome-shaped tumor on sun-exposed skin of elderly people. Transplant recipients or AIDS patients have a higher incidence of this tumor than normal individuals.

HRPC cannot be cured by any available therapeutic option, and chemotherapy has to be still considered as a palliative treatment. The anthracyclines doxorubicin (Dox) and epirubicin (Epi), alone or in combination with other agents, have been extensively used in the treatment of HRPC, but controversial results have been reported.

Unlabelled: There is evidence that high plasma levels of factor (F) VIII, FIX, FXI and fibrinogen are independent risk factors for venous thromboembolism.
Aim: To determine the plasma concentrations of several coagulation factors and C4b-binding protein (C4BP) in a group of patients with non-metastatic colorectal cancer in order to investigate some aspects of cancer-acquired thrombophilia.
Methods: Plasma fibrinogen, FII, FV, FVII, FVIII, FIX, FX, FXI and FXII activity levels and C4BP concentrations were determined in 73 patients with non-metastatic colorectal cancer (48 colon and 25 rectum) and in 67 matched control subjects.
GOLF is a triple translational combination chemotherapy regimen with gemcitabine, oxaliplatin, and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) (plus levofolinic acid), cytotoxic drugs currently used in the treatment of pancreatic carcinoma. Considering its promising anti-tumor effects in patients with gastroenteric malignancies, we carried out the present study to investigate its toxicity and anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced pancreatic carcinoma. Twenty-seven patients were enrolled in the study, 15 males and 12 females with an average age of 61 years and a performance status (ECOG) = 3.
